I have a panasonic 42px600u attached to my SA 8300HD with Cox in San Diego. It's worked near flawlessly for over a month. In the last week, I'm having a problem with the HDMI signal cutting out between the cable box and the plasma.
What will happen is the display will go dark and the input indicator(e.g. HDMI 1) will pop up on the plasma for a second or two and then the picture will return. Sometimes this happens once every 30 minutes, sometimes it happens several times in a minute.
I've tried plugging the cable into the second HDMI input on the panny (thinking maybe it was a bad input port on the plasma) but it continues to do the same thing.
So, my thoughts at this point are:
1) Bad HDMI inputs on tv. Both HDMI inputs on the tv have gone bad and are periodically dropping signal
2) Bad HDMI cable (odd that it would work fine for a month and then start malfunctioning)
3) Bad HDMI output port on the SA 8300.
I've unplugged the HDMI and am now running component from the SA 8300 to the panny and I haven't seen the problem but that doesn't really tell me anything since the HDMI circuitry on either the SA 8300 or the plasma could still be faulty and not affect the component circuitry.
I welcome any input on this problem before I call Cox and have them send me another DVR. I don't have any other video devices that output HDMI that I can use to rule out the HDMI ports on the plasma. I guess I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar problem either with their panny 600u or with the SA 8300.
