In the KD-VPHD2 owner's manual it states: 'Adapting DVI-D to HDMI and HDMI to DVI-D, always use an adapter at the source...".

Just curious, why would it make any difference which end the adapter is used? If going from an HDMI source to a display with a DVI-D input, what difference would it make if you used an HDMI to DVI-D adapter and then a DVI cable or an HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI-D adapter at the source?

Link to KD-VPHD2 Owner's Manual (http://www.keydigital.com/Owner%20Manuals/KD-VPHD2_Manual_11.06.pdf) - its on page 9 of 31, in the red Cautions - 2nd bullet point.

Thanks

No one? I am not having a problem with my system, but from a logic perspective. I would really like more info on this question.

thanks!

No reasons I can think of, expect that maybe putting that HDMI/DVI dongle on the TV puts too much physical strain on the TV's HDMI connector? Or perhaps they're that the dongle may hit the wall and bend the connector? Just my 2 cents.

I sent an email to Key Digital asking for clarification.
I will post if I get an answer.

I have not received a response from Key, but I did a small test.

25 foot HDMI cable from the VPHD2 with an HDMI to DVi converter at the display
25 foot DVI cable with a DVI to HDMI converter at Key Digital VPHD2

Both worked perfectly with no change in picture quality.

Oh well, still curious about why the statement is in the Key Digital owners manual. I think I will corner someone from Key at CEDIA

Hey, for various reasons, I just connected a DVI cable to HDMI adapters at BOTH ends and picture quality is excellent.

All the combos should work, as long as there is a solid connections. bits are bits
