I have a question for the experts in the video processesing forum.

Recently with the Playstation3's new 1.8 firmware update, a new setting called Full (vs Limited) was introduced. What the limited setting gives is a grey scale of 16-235 (I believe). However the other setting called "Full" gives a grayscale of 0-255.

It appears that my PAL based PJ likes this 0-255 mode better as it also removes a layer of haze in the picture.

My question to the video processing folks is what are my lowest cost options of converting my various sources to 1080i with a grayscale of 0-255?

Thanks..

I'm not sure about the lowest cost option. A Lumagen HDP will do this.

Would it be safe to say that most VPs will do the same in the price range, say DVDO's products?

I give props to Lumagen for their performance but I dont know about the "built from Frys parts bin" look.
