I purchased this TV in November of 2005 from Crutchfield. I has a 1080p DLP chip, however, the TV only accepts up to 1080i via HDMI and Component but accepts 1080p from VGA. Is there an update to allow 1080p signals vis component or HDMI or has anybody tried and saw that it works even though samsung says it won't.

Sorry, but the HLR models will not accept 1080p input over HDMI or component (that year's Sony, JVC, Mits, and Tosh 1080p sets also don't accept 1080p). The good news is that feeding it 1080i and having the display deinterlace to 1080p will look identical to feeding it 1080p, so I wouldn't worry about it (and I certainly wouldn't upgrade to a newer model just for 1080p).
