I still am at a loss on what I should be doing to make sure I am getting the best possible image from my system. My main confusion comes from all these devices with built in deinterlacers/scalers.

Now I know some will say simply that I should be bypassing all that and buy a stand alone. Please though for this explaination I am seeking, lets exclude that for now. It only furthers my confusion, heh.

I have an HD TiVO, HD DVD, 720p DLP projector, and soon a HDMI 1.3 switching receiver. A 1080p DLP is soon in my future.

ALL of them have their own deinterlacers and scalers. None of them except the TiVo seem to let me turn off the process. When I say turn off I mean that my TiVo let's me set an ouput of 1080i. This I assume would then bypass it's deinterlacer obviously. But the DVD player outputs a 1080p signal. So as long as the DVD playing is 1080p no deinterlacer action should be in play. However if a standard DEF DVD is in there that might not be the case. So no guarentee I can make sure it's not proccessing the signal.

My question is what happens when I have all these source devices applying deinterlacing and scaling?

I would like my new Onkyo with it's built in HQV Reon to do all the deinterlacing and scaling and output it's 1080p signal and that's it. Of couse the DVD player has this same processor too. The TiVO uses the same processor as my projector (farujda).

So what the hell am I suppose to do with all this? For best picture? I mean are all these proccesors reapplying their effects to the signal? Is there a way to avoid this?

Thanks for any help in clearing this up.
