View Full Version : Suggestions on HDMI cables for Mitsubishi WD-73732?
mikem471 06-03-07, 07:55 PM Hey gang, I first have to start off by saying I'm kind of an AV newbie, so take it easy on me. LOL. I'm buying the Mitsubishi WD-73732 and either the Sony BDP-S1 Blu-Ray player or the BDP-S300, whenever that one comes out. I just need some suggestions on HDMI cables for this hook up. I'm buying my stuff from a Bernies and the HDMI cables they want to sell me are the Monster MHDMI400-2M cables.
Now here is where me being a newbie really slaps you in the face. From what I've read, these cables will show video in 720p & 1080i, but the tv I'm buying is 1080p. It's bad enough they're trying to sell me cables for $120 a piece that I can get for about half that (maybe less), I just want to know what I should get to get the most out of equipment.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

flavell79 06-03-07, 10:36 PM I've asked a similar question in another area of this site, i'll let you know what they give me as an answer, cause i've got a tv thats 1080p, and i have the Monster Cable HDMI400 2m HDMI and trying to find out if i should upgrade my cable to the Monster m1000... if anybody answers me i'll let you know. I got two of these orderd off ebay for $47 each..
burnsniper 06-03-07, 10:38 PM Just go to www.monoprice.com - a forum sponsor and save yourself $100. HDMI is digital so it either works or it doesn't. Fancy shielding and conductors are not needed with digital signals. Monoprice makes great cables without the crazy markup that "other" cable companies place on their products. Both Monoprice's digital and analog cables are excellent. :D
dssturbo1 06-04-07, 02:02 AM yes, forget the monster cables. they are over priced overhyped.
go to monoprice.com they make good solid well built cables for excellent prices, with fast shipping.
MORT A POTTY 06-04-07, 03:45 AM I also recommend monoprice from personal experience. both the HDMI and toslink cables I've ordered from them in the past have been great and real cheap. even ordered more HDMI and toslink cables saturday :p
seriously ~5 bucks a cable is waaaaay better than 120.
mikem471 06-04-07, 07:43 AM Thanks for suggesting monoprice, everybody. Any advice on which cable I should grab? I don't really need anything longer than 6'.

The cheapest one on their site works well!

Thundercat99 06-04-07, 11:39 AM Eh, save time and money, go to evil wall mart( well to some people they're evil, not me though). My cousin has a sony blue ray and hd cable hooked up with 6' hdmi cables to a sony 60 A2020from them, phillips brand at I believe at 34 bucks a pop plus tax, and the HD pic is just flat out mouth watering and jaw dropping.
jwebb1970 06-04-07, 11:44 AM Concur with others. For the best price, go with Monoprice. Can't beat an HDMI cable for under 10 bucks.
If you absolutely positively cannot wait for shipping, hit your local WalMart or Target. Can get 6-8' of HDMI fo under $40 from either retailer.
LanceTX 06-04-07, 01:11 PM Another alternative if you can't wait for shipping is to go to an Apple Store if you're in a city that has one. They sell excellent quality 6.56' HDMI cables for $19.95 for their Apple TV product, but of course the cables will work with any HDMI device.
mikem471 06-04-07, 03:04 PM Thanks for all the suggestions everybody, really appreciate the help.
DeanSheen 06-05-07, 12:35 PM Step it up a little bit.
Try bluejeanscable.
Thicker than those other brands mentioned. These are a good value that wont break the bank.
steinfire 06-11-07, 04:21 PM I just talked to a girl that I work with and made her really mad. Her and her husband just bought a tv at BB and spent almost 300 bucks on the surge protector and cables and I showed her monoprice. The 30 days has passed and she is stuck with all the monster stuff.
