Hi I'm having some problems here, not sure if I should be posting in the Projector or Video Processor forum...
I'll lay out the two scenarios:
1. Projector set to YpbPr with OPPO DV-970HD connected via component at 480p no problems.
2. With the Faroudja external in the loop I can only choose Analog RGB input and when I set the projector to native or 16X9 I get nasty tearing all the time.
The native res of the 6200 is 1024X768 so it's a tad better than 480p.
Any ideas how I could fix this?
Thanks.

Try setting the dvd player to 480i and let the scaler do the processing.

I tried that, no luck. If there is one thing I learned around here it's send 480i to your VP :)
I can get rid of tearing if I set the projector to "native mode" but then I get this pixel crawling/banding that looks really bad. But if I set to 4:3 or 16:9 mode the crawling goes away but now the tearing appears.
I'm stumped.

Could anyone else offer a suggestion? I'm wondering why everything is fine via component but not RGB. My scaler only seems to output RGB

What model of the Faroudja do you have and does it support multiple resolutions? Some older ones (the NRS series) had to be ordered to support the exact resolution of the display. If they were mismatched, you would get crappy results.

Hi Jim,
Well I had an NRS, sent it in for a Universal upgrade and this is what I got back:
SERVICE PERFORMED:
1. REPLACED NRS-DVI MAIN PCB, ASSY #29214-00 REV. C WITH ASSY #29274-00 - DVI-PLL BOARD.
2.REPALCED U21 AB WITH BD FLI2300 VERSION & ADDED JUMPERS, CUTS, NO LOADS.
3.REPROGRAM UXI, BOOTLOADER, AP & XI FOR DVP1000 V1.14
4.QA THE UPGRADED NRS-DVI TO UNIVERSAL.
So I guess I have a DVP1000 now? I do have many selectable output resolutions but my projector is native 1024x768. So I don't think it's a resolution issue...

Are you saying you're running the projector at 1024x768 and experiencing the problems noted earlier? If so, there's one thing I can think of, which I also experienced.
The Faroudja outputs RGB at a fixed 60hz rate. If your display isn't happy with 60hz for some reason, you might get tearing, which is especially noticeable during camera pans with 24fps material. I had this problem with my Pioneer plasma because it did an internal conversion from 60hz to 72hz. The result was pretty bad. Lots of tearing and judder. I got an unofficial, unsupported "fix" for the plasma which stopped it from up converting to 72hz and it fixed the problem.
Have you tried using component from the Faroudja? I think there's a setup menu option which will select it. I have never tried it so can't say for sure if it's automatically supported or not. It may be a feature specified at the time of order. Faroudja might be able to answer this for you one way or the other.
