1. Samsung HLT5687S
2. Sony Grand Wega KDS-55A2020
They are both the same price @ $1949 shipped through Amazon (or $1899 + tax at my local circuit city for the sony). Technically, I can also get the 60" Sony for $2200 as well if I wanted, so that could be an option as well.
Which is the better set? I play games, watch tv, and movies. I guess I would say there is a good mix of all three.
Thanks for all your thoughts!

For me, it came down to the RBE on the DLP set... if not for that, I'd say the Sammy... lots of inputs, great options, etc. Alas, I am going to have to say farewell to it... the RBE was too much to bear... picking up an SXRD. They both have great PQ... I'd give the edge to Sammy in the user interface and option department on the HLTs... the Sony has better viewing angles, but are bulbed... it's a close horserace on these.

Thanks for your response! I thought RBEs are minimized if not almost depleted in the LED models. Regardless, RBEs are not much of an issue for me. I don't see them very much...

I was in the same boat as you while picking the tv. I was going back and forth and i ended up with the samsung hl-t5687s. The reasons were that i thought it had better picture, used led instead of a lamp(dont have to replace), accepted 1080p through hdmi, component, and vga, and i dont have any problems with RBE.
Everyone is different, but I dont think you could go wrong with either tv.
Neither is the better set -- they are both excellent, and it just comes down to personal preference. Either would look great in your home.
