Hi All,
Now that my Optoma RD50A is looking like a goner, I'm looking for a replacement set. I'm using a Dell 5150 Notebook as an HTPC in this room, so I only have a VGA output to drive the TV. I know that some TVs don't have VGA inputs, and some that do won't display widescreen resolutions (limited to 1024x768 or less). This is hard to know by reading promotional info about the sets - sometimes they just say "VGA port". (I think I was running the Optoma at 1280x960).
Any suggestions for a replacement set? My wife and I really liked the Mits (57731?) we saw at one of the warehouse-type stores recently, but I've learned that it doesn't have a VGA input. I was thrilled with the Optoma's picture, and it had a non-reflective screen that worked well in our family room. Most viewing will be of TV (SDTV 60%/HDTV 30%/SD DVDs 10%), so I'm not worried about 1080p unless it brings a better overall picture without too much of a price penalty.
Thanks,
NGage
