I would like to mount my LCD TV (32" ~40 LBS) on a specific wall in my bedroom.
The wall is about 38" wide between two doors. My dilema is that there is only one stud in that wall and off center (about 12" from one of the edges). Is it possible to still mount a the TV?
Thanks.

Do you mind semi-ugly? Get a piece of 3/4 ply larger enough to mount the bracket or display. Fasten it to the sheet rock with 4 or more toggle bolts (heavy duty sheet rock anchors). If the ply extends over the stud use two or three 2.5 or 3 inch wood screws into the stud sheet rock anchors elsewhere.
This way each toggle bolt will only carry 10 lbs or less and the load is spread over a wall area approximately the size of the display.
Paint the ply to match the wall.
Fasten the panel or bracket to the plywood.

my 32" is mounted with a mount only to one stud. most articulating mounts are designed to be mounted this way......and they only allow them to be mounted this way. mine uses 4 lag bolts into the one stud. TV is 40lbs and doesn't budge.
