View Full Version : Screen popped out on new DLP

This is my first post. After looking at numerous video sources, I finally decided on a 1080p Mitsubishi. Since the boxed unit on the floor looked slightly damaged, I had them retrieve me a new box still on a pallet - I knew this was a mistake at the time and that I should have just taken the dented boxed TV.
I arranged for help to bring the TV into my house and after setting up the stand, we opened the box only to find that the screen had popped out of the chassis. Initially, I thought that I could put it back in place, but then decided against it. I am assuming that whatever caused it to be released from the front of the chassis may have caused other damage. I also wondered if the screen would no longer be flat.
Is this common? I am planning on swapping it for another television (maybe the dented box that I initially rejected!), but should I first try to put it back in place?
How delicate are the Mitsubishi DLPs during shipping?
Thanks in advance.

Both boxes were unopened. I bought from Costco. I've already assembled the stand and although it is against their policy, they will let me return the TV and they will return the stand that belongs with the TV that they will be exchanging with me. I am still concerned about the delicacy of this tv.
Thoughts?

I'm not sure what's against Costco's policy. I understand that any TV can be returned within 90 days. In the case of damage out of the box, there shouldn't be a problem.

It sounds like the one you got didn't get it's bezel screwed in correctly at the factory. I've been reading DLP threads since 2002 and that's a new one for me.

The policy that Costso changed was being able to return a display, no questions asked, forever. Exchanges within some defined time period is allowed at every B&M store (although not necessarily at some online "stores").
