I installed a new 9' DVI cable from the Motorola HD cable box to my 2+ year old 51" Hitachi HD projection TV (model 51S500) today. Comparing it to the existing component cable setup, there doesn't appear to be any difference in picture quality. Is this to be expected with this older technology, or are there any steps I might take to improve the picture quality?
Thanks for any ideas.

What you see is normal. HDTV via component and DVI/HDMI usually show very little, if any, differences in PQ.

HDMI picture quality on a 1080i CRT based TV will likely not be noticeably different compared to analog. CRT is inherently an analog technology, and 1080i is a "relatively" low resolution. HDMI shows its colors on higher resolutions (such as 1080p) and on digital display technologies (LCD, PDP, DLP, LCOS, etc) as it eliminates the double analog conversions made when using component.
