Hey everyone. This is my first time on this board. I have to say that this is one thorough board, but there is one thing I can't find list under any topics.
I just bought a 3x1 HDMI 1.3 HDCP compliant Switcher and can't get it to function properly, thinking it may have something to do with HDCP. I have an LG DVD with HDMI and an HTPC using a DVI->HDMI adaptor. Now, when either of these is directly connected to my RCA Scenium HDTV (probably an older HDMI port), it works great, but when I put the switcher on it, neither of them works or the screen is severly scaled down(in the case of the DVD player). Now the switcher is advertised to be compatible from 1.0 to 1.3 and has an authenticity certificate (is that valid?), so I really don't know what the problem could be. Could anyone decipher what this could be? If so, is there an easy solution? Thank you in advance.

You may want to list the brand name and model number of the switcher to see if any others have had a similar experience. One obvious thing to check is that you have plugged in the power for the switcher.

Yeah, I guess I should have put the specifics in there as well. Unfortunately, I can't find the name brand of the switcher, but I can give you a link in Ebay. It's the same switch with the certified document about the 1.3 specs.
I just have a standard dual DVI Geforce 7600GT card, using a standard DVI cable with the DVI->HDMI converter. And like I said before, if it's connected directly to the TV, it works great, but through the switcher, nothing comes up, yet you can tell the switcher is receiving the signal. (oh yeah, the power is on, btw). =) As for my Upscaling DVD player, the doesn't do full widescreen; it brings it down to 640x480 resolution. I've read somewhere that this may be an HDCP problem, rather than a handshaking problem. I'm still learning all the quirks with HDMI and HDCP as well as all the problems its' having. If I can get any response of a possible solution, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance. =)

Hey everyone. I think I have a defective switch. Tell me if you think it is. I bought a Joytech switch from wal-mart just to test it out for the hell of it and you know what....it works perfectly. The box says it was designed for PS3, but it's working fine. The only difference I can see between the Joytech one and the one I have is that the Joytech doesn't specify if it is a 1.3 spec HDMI switch, but I'm assuming it would have to be, if it's to be fully compatible with PS3, right? I would keep this switch, but it doesn't come with an HDMI cable for the output...rather odd...following Sony's method...buy HDMI stuff separately. Anyways, if anyone has any clues as to why a Joytech brand would work versus an ATC certified 1.3 HDMI Switch, let me know. =)

If it works, it works. Short cables are a few dollars from Monoprice.com. You only need the 28 AWG cables up to 6 feet.

This is my first post. I am Ebay member also. In fact I have just won another switcher [similar] to yours-290125173716(Ebay item #). Before I go any further I am NOT an expert of any kind! I looked your switcher up and based on what you said it seems that you got a defective one. I researched your seller's feedback and I saw only one complaint about that switcher. Other customers that bought the same switcher gave positive feedback to that seller. Did you try to switch with the remote? I hope I don't have any problems with mine!

My unit turned out to be fine...for a friend. It looks like I had some compatibility problems with it. The unit itself works fine with or without the remote, and from the look of the feedbacks, I may be one of the few who has had any major compatibility problems. I'm not sure what's the cause, but nonetheless, it seems the seller is legit and is very quick to respond. I'm sure you'll have no problems with it. =)
