Bought a 8300HD on eBay. Connected it to the TV. It displayed BOOT and saw POWER TV on the the TV screen. Received turned off and turned on again and displaying _ _ _ _

Went in DIAG mode and TV screen showed:

INITIALIZATION: Status: in progress

Waited a few minutes and it changed to:

READY B' cast only.

Cable company here is Videotron(in Canada)

Looks like I can't get any signal.

On the remote it says Cox. Is it possible to reset the unit to be used with another cable company

Only if the original owner (Cox) were to sell the authentication codes to your provider. Cox is in the USA, and they own the box, not the peson on ebay. Canadian cable companies will authenticate legally purchased STB's though...

Resurrecting an old thread I now, but I'll just chip in some information.

The 4 _ _ _ _ bars mean then box is not authorized for usage.
The way it works, is that Videotron will only activate boxes which serial number is in the database of devices it sold.

They will not activate Non-videotron boxes as per their policies.
