Hi everyone. I have a Toshiba 42hm66 DLP HDTV. Its an awesome tv except for one thing that kinda bothers me. Whenever I watch HD programing, the picture and clarity are awesome, but it looks like theres thousands and thousands of little squares or pixels making up the picture. I'm pretty sure this is the screen door effect but I never noticed it on my old LCD but on my DLP it can really show (again, only during HD). Is there any way to make this less noticeable? Cause it does kinda feel like i'm watching HD in back of a screen door.

do you also notice sparkeleys on white images?
That's what I notice bad on my Panasonic 3LCD. Its worse than other TV's. It's a shame cause Panny makes excellent Plasmas.
I never noticed Screen Door, but I thought what I was noticing was screen door.
Turns out it wasn't.
Screen door effects are not a problem with DLP technology (the spaces between the pixels are much smaller than with LCD or plasma, thus no SDE). Have you calibrated with AVIA or DVE (sounds like the sharpness might be set too high).

I too am planning on buying one of the Toshiba 42HM66 DLP TVs and was hoping I could get your opinion on it. There is two at Sears, one @ closeout for 750 and the other @ 900. With them being side-by-side I notice that the cheaper (though assembled more recently) one has a little of the screen door effect not seen in the more expensive one. Which may be an explanation of the price difference. The cheaper TV also seems to produce a yellower white color than the other. What I would like to know is what are some of the things that can be causing the difference in the picture?
PS. TVs are hooked up to coxial cables in store and may not be showing full potential

Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem (specifically for this TV)? Obviously, if I can find the info on here without buying the DVDs I'd appreciate it...
