Title says it all, I have an HDMI 1.1 receiver, which one is the best for SACD in a digital format? Also, if there are any other players that do SACD over HDMI, please let me know.

I'd grab the Oppo for this use, much cheaper and does DVD-A also. I believe they both convert to PCM before transmission, but a 1.1 receiver can't accept DSD anyway.

Oppo wins on Price, and on the ability to also play DVD-A's (which the Sony won't do).

But... if you want Blu-Ray playback, then you'd have to go for the Sony, or some other player.

Make sure your receiver can handle PCM.

I bought the Oppo just for CD/SACD/DVD-A playback. I love it. For $150, you can't go wrong and it does sound great. I don't even use the DVD part (I have xA2 though).

That's what I bought my Oppo for, as well. I let my HTPC handle all of my DVD's. The Oppo does the rest (SACD, DVD-A, CD). Great player and it sounds great. Now, if only more artists would jump on the multi-channel bandwagon!!!

I have an Oppo 981 and a PS3. The Oppo works great. The UI on the PS3 is definately better, and it'll throw up a trippy screensaver as well ;) It's also easier to choose between stereo and multichannel selections. That being said, if I didn't have either and was looking to purchase something for SACD playback only, I'd go with the Oppo.

I also have both the 970 and PS3. If you don't want blu-ray save the bucks and get the Oppo, it is a great little player.

I am afraid the SACD and DVD-A multichannel bandwagon has four broken wheels and jumping on it now will result in sitting still for all of eternity.
