I'm about to sell my samsung hlp-5085w (the one on the stand).
the buyer is having a hard time arranging for transportation.
He has a large suv but he tv would have to be layed down in order to fit in there.

I remember hearing that laying a dlp down is not safe for the tv.
Is that true?
Would the only way to transfer it be , standing up in a large van then?
Thanks

That would be best. Laying down the pedestal can dislodge internal parts as well as damage the glass base.

I need help figuring out how to move my Samsung HL-P5685W (pedestal version w/glass base). I am able to slide it along the floor in small increments when moving it slightly around the room, but now I need to move it out to the garage for temporary storage while we show our house. I have no clue how to move this huge, heavy, awkward thing that far.

Does anyone have experience or advice moving this style of tv, with the pedestal attached?

Can the pedestal be removed from the top without risking damage?

Is there something I can put it on to roll it around? But either way I go, I have to go down some steps along the way, plus fit through a normal-sized doorway.

Are there any not-too-expensive services available for moving a big screen?

I'm not at all sure how to go about this, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

A long, long time ago (probably 2006) there was a thread on dis-assembling one of these TVs. It may be in the archives.

You are a lifesaver! Thank you SO much for not only pointing out that there was a post about it, but also finding it for me! I really, really appreciate your help. I think I'll try this, as I don't know what else to do. I'll just have to be really careful. I'll be sick if I damage it somehow.

I'll post again after the procedure next weekend and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again!
