I just got my Yamaha 661 and now I need to find the best way to connect all of this.
Toshiba 65HM167 1080p DLP ( 3 HDMI inputs)
PS3 (HDMI)
Direct TV HD - DVR (HDMI)
Toshiba HD-A2
Xbox 360 (component video)
Running a 5.1 channel system with POLK R series (150s and 300s and center w/ BIC sub)
I also have a 5X1 HDMI Switch available and was wondering if I would be able to run them through the switch and then run one HDMI into the receiver ( ???????)
I want to continue to use with HDMI connections is possible and if that is the best solution for both video and sound.
The switch box might work. You could also run two HDMI devices directly to the TV, two HDMI devices to the receiver and one HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV.

Thanks. I am new at using a HT set up so I can use all the help I can get. The lines I run to the TV, I take it when I want to use these I change the input on the TV, correct. To get sound from the Receiver for these devices, would I have to run a optical or digital audio line to the receiver? :D

Thanks. I have an HDMI switch currently on my DLP TV in the family room. This switch looks interesting. If I hook it up do I run the devices to it then out to the receiver and then to the TV or do they go in then out to the TV and the TV out to the receiver?????:D :D

Yes, you can daisy chain switch boxes together with no problem, so you can put a switch box in front of the AVR, and use only 1 HDMI input on your AVR. So long as your HDMI playback devices are compliant and can support a repeater, it will work. If all your playback sources work fine with your AVR now, that should validate that they do support repeaters. The only caveat is that you might need a little longer to first get your image if the switch box performs a separate authentication. In this case, the source has to wait for both the AVR and the switch box to perform authentication. But most switch boxes essentially just pass the HDMI signal through and do not have to perform a separate authentication.

I just hooked up an HT800 system over the weekend to Satellite receiver, PS3 and DVD/VHS recorder. I did post this in another thread, but here is a brief run down of how I have them hooked up: (btw, I did not use an HDMI switch).
From Receiver to TV = HDMI
From Satellite to receiver (RCA jacks, audio only, HDMI to tv)
From DVD recorder HDMI to receiver for video, Optical cable for audio
From PS3 - HDMI to receiver for video, Optical cable for audio
The reason for the second cable is, the receiver does not support HDMI audio. But I can tell you, we watched the Blue Ray version of Ghost Rider on the PS3, the sound and video were phenominal! The reason for the RCA jacks on the Satellite receiver is, basically because I don't care that the sound is not Digital (although, I could hook up HD component cables) there are only two Optical connections on the receiver, so I went with what was important to me. However, even with the Analog sound, this system is awesome for the price! Good luck to you!
