Hey guys new to the Forum here but long time looker. Anyways, I live in an upstairs apartment ( 3 bedroom ) and I wanted to setup a home theatre Surround sound with a an Onkyo TX-SR805 reciever and Polk 7.1 speakers all around in a 14x15 Bedroom. The problem is that I do not want my downstairs neighbors to be bothered by any Bass from the subwoofer. I want to place a subwoofer on the right corner of our nearest next bedroom so that our neighbors to our left are not affected also.

Can you guys recommend something for this? Is this a subwoofer issue or just a reciever setting to where I can adjust the sound on my subwoofer? I want to avoid any complaints from by downstairs neighbor . She by the way, is a very bitchy person and I'd hate to get complaints from her and the property manager.

Thanks for any advice.

I'd say your chances of success based on the fact that she is "a very bitchy person" are slim to none, no matter where you put the sub. Once the sub gets going in the room it will start all the walls, ceiling and floor vibrating. That in turn will be heard in her apartment. You best bet is to put it as close to your ears as possible and keep the volume really low.

You might want to think about surround sound headphones.

My vote would also be for bass shakers.

What if he laid down another layer of 3/4" plywood on the floor?

I am on the 2nd of 3 floors and put my sub on a small 2ft tall wooden table. It sounds good and I have not had any compaints from my neighbors. I just keep it down after 10pm just in case.

At a bare minimum invest in a SubDude. You can get them from Sweetwater.com as well as many other places I'm sure
