Got this from the Resistance board...which is in a "frenzy" right now over this! :p

From Greg Phillips, Line Producer, SCEA:

This feels like déjà vu… A really bad case of déjà vu

Last week, I had the pleasure of unveiling our planned release date of June 7th for the Resistance: Fall of Man map packs and content update. That was on May 31st, the last day of May and the date we (SCEA and Insomniac) had promised when we unveiled this waive of DL content.

On that June 7th release date, I have some unfortunate news to share. During our final testing of the global server, which removes regional play restrictions for those who want some international flair in the multiplayer experience, a few last minute issues have come up. Despite some extremely long hours by all those involved, the unfortunate fact remains that we cannot resolve these issues prior to our announced launch date. And, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, neither SCEA nor Insomniac wants to release something to our ever-growing community which will impede the experience.

Hence the déjà vu feeling mentioned above.

The one bit of good news is these issues are NOT related to the content update or map packs themselves, and both have cleared format QA groups worldwide. In other words, everything is ready to go from the game side; we just have some kinks to iron out to complete the integration of our global community. Rather than announce a new date at this time, I want to see these issues resolved first to prevent any more cases of déjà vu on this topic.

What I can promise are two things: first, this last delay won’t be too long. Second, once it is out and you have a chance to play the new maps or your buddies from across the world, you’ll be happy we took the time to get this right.

Right, back to work.

Thanks,
GP aka Greg Phillips,
Line Producer, SCEA

Ha, kinda funny...It seems that there's been so much activity on "myresistance.com" about this, the server crashed! Which is kinda fitting, considering Sony isn't releasing the patch today, because of their...server. :p

Seriously...as if they didnt know about it yesterday. Cmon this is getting lame. Good thing I could care less about worldwide servers, they need to release the damn maps today if theres no problem with them.

I don't understand why they just can't give us the maps. They've been ready a while now! I could really live without the global servers.....No offense to the rest of...the world. To me global servers just mean people swearing and trash-talking me with new accents. :p So yeah, not a high priority for me. But I'm practically slobbering for some new maps! The Bus yard again!?!?! Nooooooooo!!

Yup.. read it and WEEP (which is what I did haha), I'm glad, like anyone should be - that they will do this proper - but at the SAME TIME im really let down, this was something that excited me as a gamer since I heard about it months ago and we got to see the new maps screens, they said May, then they said, End of May, then they said May 31st, then they said June 7th, and now.... we don't know when, just "soon".

Well, the good news is that Sony is getting better at clear communication with the community.

I am bummed on this news too. I was sooooo ready to play the new maps tonight. But I will look for the positive in this one like "awx" has.

I just remembered that we were also supposed to get the extra campaign levels, yesterday, too! Where this time you're a chimera, fighting off humans. I wonder if it's still going to be a part of the new patch. Anyone hear anything about these extra levels?

I think that was a serious rumor that is NOT going to happen.

The communication seems to be on point though. The myresistance boards have a direct connection with insomniac and they (insomniac) actually listens and responds to complaints and suggestions brought up on that board. Its almost like they care about their community...
The official playstation boards could learn a bit from myresistance.net

I would not call waiting till the middle of the day something is scheduled to be released to tell the public it will be delayed AGAIN as "getting better at clear communication"

The delay is with the new international servers, maybe they thought they could get them working in time, but ran into problems. Not really a communication problem, just a technical problem. Shoot the small business I work at seems to have a computer guy fixing the office computers every week. And believe me when I say we are low tech...

Atleast they are talking to us.
It sounds bad but its more than what you'd get from just about ANY other company.

I think IG has been nothing but awesome. They've been very active with the game (they play every Friday, usually) and they listen and respond to everyone's concerns on the message board. I feel horrible for the sh!t kicking they're getting. This delay with the servers is all Sony. Insomniac has had their part of the maps and patch ready for a while now.

I would. They are expressing a clear notion of what the problem is (or at least what they claim the problem is) and they are telling us their plans for addressing it. That is a major improvement for Sony. Hopefully they'll get better still.

Any chance that we may see the update/new maps today? It is thursday, and normally thats when new stuff appear in the PSN store.
