View Full Version : List of the PlayStation 3's exclusive console games (continually updated)
joeblow 09-20-10, 11:51 AM Just a head's up... the PSN store will update tonight (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/09/20/playstation-network-regular-scheduled-maintenance-6/)(Monday 9/20) instead of its normal Tuesday release day because of maintenance all day tomorrow.
joeblow 09-22-10, 01:41 PM Fans of old-school, side-scrolling shoot'em ups will want to take a look at this sweet looking video of a new game called Sky Fighter. It'll be out this year, and has an 8-player battle mode.

joeblow 10-06-10, 08:45 PM Sideway (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/10/06/sideway-coming-exclusively-to-ps3-in-2011-first-concept-art/#comment-463310)is a new exclusive PSN game just announced on the official blog. Not much is known yet (looks like a humorous adventure game maybe), but the link has some screen shots.
joeblow 10-26-10, 01:19 AM Back to the Future, an adventure game from the makers of Sam and Max, is coming out for the PS3 (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/25/back-to-the-future-the-game-on-pc-mac-ps3-ipad/)as the exclusive console release. Not much else is known about the game.
joeblow 10-26-10, 03:34 PM Konami's quirky action game No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is coming to the PS3 exclusively next year with full Move support:
KONAMI Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced today that No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is coming to PlayStation 3 and will be compatible with Sony’s new PlayStation Move controls. Developed by AQ Interactive Inc., No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise will be available exclusively for PlayStation 3 in North America as Travis Touchdown returns to become the world’s number one assassin.
In No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, players journey through the sunny city of Santa Destroy as Travis Touchdown, battling to eliminate some of the world’s deadliest assassins. Equipped with a razor sharp Beam Katana sword, players start off as the 11th ranked assassin and try to move up the ranks to position themselves as the ultimate killer. During the course of the game, players encounter Sylvia, a mysterious woman from the United Assassins Association, who arranges fights with other higher ranked assassins to help Travis become the number one in the world. Players will either ride through the town on Travis’ trusty motor bike or travel on foot to arrive at Travis’ next assignment.
Using either a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller or the PlayStation Move motion controller players have access to a wide range of physical assaults and katana attacks, with each bout tracked by a dynamic camera that showcases the game’s stunning visuals and cinematic fight sequences. By varying the grip and control of the Beam Katana and the timing of their attacks, players have a wide range of moves at their disposal to help Travis battle and defeat his enemies. Defeated foes can also be dispatched with stunning finishing moves, allowing Travis to cement his rising reputation with a series of breathtaking kills.
Travis’ progression is enhanced via a series of sub-missions as well as the ability to hone his skills and upgrade his weapon within the lab. Santa Destroy is a living, breathing place, and the anti-hero can enter shops, visit a gym to train, and collect special icons that will enhance his attack options. As players progress through the game, they will have the opportunity to complete deadly missions and side jobs as they make their way up the ladder of the United Assassins Association.
Aside from the side missions, players will also be able to enjoy newly added game modes like “Rebout Mode” where former foes can be challenged again. Also, players will have the opportunity to encounter additional boss characters that were not available in the original episode but will be on the PlayStation®3 version of the game. Additionally, “Viewer Mode” is also available allowing players to re-watch infamous cut scenes in crystal clear HD graphics. With its stunning visuals, additional levels of action, improved AI and an incredible level of control, No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise represents a welcome return for one of gaming’s most daring creators.
No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is slated to release in 2011 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. For assets and information on the game, please visit: www.konami.com.
Bazylik 10-28-10, 11:10 AM Sly collection slated for Nov. 9
joeblow 10-28-10, 08:29 PM Thanks for the update. :)

Obscure Japanese imports are slowly starting to make their way over to Amerca. Coming from NIS is a title called Hyperdimension Neptunia (http://ps3.ign.com/objects/090/090809.html).
joeblow 11-05-10, 12:49 PM The next distinctly Japanese shoot-em up game coming exclusively to the PSN is Crescent Pale Mist. It'll be out the 2nd week of November '10.
This is a side-scrolling adventure game in which players help a young witch named Yonou traverse another dimension to uncover the source of a magical mist. Players run and jump between the background and foreground of each level while using sword and laser attacks to slash at fantastical monsters (e.g., dragons, zombies, bat-like creatures, “living armor” suits). Some battles are fast-paced and frenetic; defeated enemies generally disappear in explosive bursts of colorful light.

joeblow 11-19-10, 01:49 PM Arcade animated classic Dragon's Lair is coming to the PSN (with trophy support) next week (http://www.psnstores.com/2010/11/rumor-dragons-lair-coming-to-psn/) in 1080P for $10.
joeblow 11-24-10, 11:17 AM Chevalier Tactics (http://www.qj.net/qjnet/news/imageepoch-working-on-a-medieval-ps3-pc-game.html)is a Japan game in development that may make its way here. I'll add it to the possibility list:
Imageepoch isn't known for developing games for the PS3. They're more comfortable with the portables - their stalwart Luminous Arc series rested only on the DS, while Fate/Extra and Criminal Girls are for PSP. Their only home console release is Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii. Now, the Tokyo-based studio is shaking things up with a PS3-PC game.
Introducing Chevalier Tactics. As the name might've told you, the game will be a strategy RPG just like their Luminous Arc games. The game will be set in medieval Europe, so that means swords, knights, and royalty. Among the character classes revealed so far are the usual fighter, knight, and wizard.
Japanese gaming mag Famitsu described two modes in the game. One is Simulation Mode, where you give out orders to groups of units at a time. The other is Network Mode, where you get to play in large-scale battles.
Chevalier Tactics will be released as a downloadable for the PlayStation Network and the PC (http://www.siliconera.com/2010/11/23/chevalier-saga-tactics-also-storming-pcs/) at a yet to be announced date.
joeblow 11-25-10, 01:16 PM StarDrone, a Move+3D puzzler is being added to the list: (http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2010/11/stardrone-on-playstation-store-in.html)
The interesting action-puzzler developed for PlayStation Move and supporting 3D visuals announced here a while back (http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2010/09/stardrone-announced-for-psn-with.html) is now expected to be released on PlayStation Store on January 5th for $7.99/€7.99, with PlayStation Plus subscribers getting a discount at $4.99/€4.99.
As explained in my previous coverage about the game, in StarDrone you control the trajectory of a drone launched in a zero-gravity environment via the centrifugal force generated by connecting and disconnecting its energy beam to special anchor points. It basically plays like pinball-meets-Breakout-meets-PixelJunk Eden, using the PlayStation Move-controlled pointer to select anchor points. Inertia does the rest.

joeblow 12-08-10, 12:39 AM A new racing title called Racer Offroad (http://www.qj.net/qjnet/playstation-3/racer-offroad-outed-by-esrb.html)A new racing title is coming to the PS3, this we found out thanks to ESRB. It's one called Racer Offroad, and it looks like Sony's gearing this up as a holiday gift. So what's in going to be in the package?
According to ESRB's description, Racer Offroad, is "a racing simulation game in which players can select and drive a variety of off-road vehicles. Players avoid obstacles (e.g., falling rocks, loose barrels, hay bales) as they race around outdoor environments and beat opponents’ lap times."
It may be coming as a retail title, but odds so far point to it being a downloadable one, if only for the fact that developer 2XL Games is more prominent for making titles for digital releases. We can't wait to find out more about this offroad racing game. We'll be keeping you posted on more details as they come.
shadowlock 01-06-11, 10:05 PM Hi Joe,
When you get a chance, you might want to add this one to the list:
Coming Exclusively To PS3: The Tomb Raider Trilogy In HD
Last month we revealed the new Tomb Raider in the January issue of Game Informer. Personally I’m thrilled about the new direction Crystal Dynamics is taking Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise overall. There is so much great stuff planned, I CANNOT wait until we can divulge more info.
If all this talk about Tomb Raider is making you nostalgic for the previous titles, I have great news ─ you’ll get to revisit three of them in The Tomb Raider Trilogy. Included are remastered HD versions of Anniversary and Legend as well as the final chapter in the trilogy Underworld. In addition, The Tomb Raider Trilogy includes an exclusive static theme pack, Lara Croft and Viking Thrall Home avatars as well as trailers that go behind the scenes of all three titles.
When can you get your hands on this fantastic offer? The Tomb Raider Trilogy will be available March 22nd, 2011.
This is reposted from the Playstation Blog (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/01/06/coming-exclusively-to-ps3-the-tomb-raider-trilogy-in-hd/) (EU version).
The link clearly shows TWO covers--one for the EU region and one for the US region, so everybody should be getting this--even though it was posted on the EU blog.
joeblow 01-06-11, 11:23 PM Edit: on second thought, this trilogy is too widely available, even if PS3 remastered, to make it to this list. I'll take it off.
joeblow 01-18-11, 10:42 AM The next Everquest and next Planetside will be announced soon and Sony has STRONGLY hinted (http://nexus404.com/Blog/2011/01/16/sony-hints-at-possibility-of-everquest-3-coming-to-ps3-with-various-mmos-making-their-way-to-ps3-could-everquest-3-be-heading-there-as-well/) that both will make their way to the PS3:
Typically, releasing a MMO on a console is a risky idea. While MMOs have become a staple PC gaming, the genre just doesn’t work as well on consoles. Sony Online Entertainment seems to be trying to change that, though – DC Universe Online has already released for PS3, and games like The Agency, Free Realms and the next Planetside title are heading there in the future. Now, SOE has hinted to Eurogamer that the next Everquest game may be heading to their home console as well.
I'll add them to the "possibilities" list.
joeblow 01-21-11, 01:04 PM Interesting rumor (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/284819/news/metal-gear-solid-hd-trilogy-coming-to-ps3/) from the Official Playstation Magazine. Konami might be prepping an HD Collection of Metal Gear Solid 1-3.
An HD reworking of the original Metal Gear Solid trilogy is on the way to PS3, according to 'insider whispers' heard by the ears of the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine.
In the mag's new issue, in stores now, it reports that Snake is "in the facelift queue", and that the "first three" MGS games are set to be reborn in High Definition.
No details of release window, price or whether the trilogy will be a boxed or digital product are given.
However, any reworking of Kojima-san's much-loved original trio will be music to the ears of PlayStation nuts, with the games still very much considered classics of the genre.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots is currently the only MGS title to be released for PS3. It enjoys a very healthy 94 per cent average review score on Metacritic. Could it be joined by its predecessors in full HD later this year?
We've contacted Sony for comment.
joeblow 02-06-11, 03:24 AM A new God of War game for the PS3 may be in the works; a job listing to joining the GoW team was found according to this article. (http://www.qj.net/qjnet/playstation-3/new-god-of-war-title-cooking.html)
joeblow 02-10-11, 02:15 PM PixelJunk Shooter 2 is coming your way on March 1: (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/02/10/pixeljunk-shooter-2-will-be-released-march-1st/)
Hey PixelJunkies, the date has been set in stone – PixelJunk Shooter 2 will be released exclusively to PlayStation Network on March 1st! The glowing previews should begin flying in soon too (fingers crossed)!
Compared to the original, this game is packed even more full of lovely gushing liquid action across three entirely new worlds, and there is a whole new game in itself with the online versus mode we have put in there (over 20 weapons and abilities for you to use against your opponent!). This is why it has taken a little longer than expected to get this into your hands, but we’re really happy that now, after winging its way through the digital tapestry called “game submission,” it has been approved for release!
Keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks as we have some very interesting things to announce and remember to tune into our PixelJunk Radio podcast if only to hear us talk in dulcet tones!
If you have any questions about Shooter 2, fire away below and either myself or Ariel will attempt to answer them!
joeblow 02-17-11, 11:08 PM ign.com (http://ps3.ign.com/objects/099/099033.html) has an article up on Rochard, a new PSN action puzzler coming soon.

blklightning 03-03-11, 07:18 AM A new God of War game for the PS3 may be in the works; a job listing to joining the GoW team was found according to this article. (http://www.qj.net/qjnet/playstation-3/new-god-of-war-title-cooking.html)
this is awesome news. god of war 3 was great. but it's obvious that they can do even better given a second go round with the hardware. can't wait to see what god of war 4 looks like. but hopefully they get rid of zeus. that storyline is beyond overplayed at this point.
btw, what's up with the hideo kojima ps3 project in the op? i haven't heard of anything like that.
joeblow 03-03-11, 10:37 AM Kojima's secret title supposedly touches on taboo subject matter. It is rumored (http://www.vg247.com/2010/06/19/rumor-kojima-to-announce-a-major-ps3-exclusive-at-tgs/) to be a PS3 exclusive.
I'm not sure why I had it in the main listing; I've dropped it down to the "exclusive PS3 possibility" rumor list and adjusted the totals.

hmm, i don't know what to make of that. it could have you shooting little kids, or be a rape simulator. i mean, outside of that, there's not much left that's taboo when it comes to games.
Bazylik 03-04-11, 09:27 AM that gow listing could be for next PSP
kojima isn't making a sex game.. This is only a taboo subject in the US.
joeblow 03-04-11, 09:34 AM Santa Monica Studios doesn't work on the GoW series for the PSP. The rumor would be for the PS3, with an outside chance of the NGP.
BTW, what is taboo in Japan?
joeblow 03-05-11, 12:23 PM http://playstationlifestyle.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/okabu-300x168.jpg
Okabu is coming to the PSN, which ign.com (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/115/1153807p1.html) called the cutest game at the Games Developer Conference:
A few minutes after my demo of Okabu started, I realized what it reminded me of. It wasn't Rolando, the extremely popular iPhone game that the developer Hand Circus is known for; it was the animated movie, Ferngully: The Last Rainforest.
My comparisons were simple: you play as a cloud shaped like a whale (not like the movie at all, but stick with me) battling the evil Doza, creatures running around in polluting machines. So there's a similar environmental agenda at work to help convert the youth of the world into being less wasteful. The music also reminded me of Ferngully – it was upbeat and bright, which made it really pleasant to listen to. The game is also a joy to look at -- the world is colorful and the clouds are so happy to be flying around, and even happier when they pick up water from pools.
Designed as a cooperative puzzle game, you take control of one of the little whale-clouds and precipitate on plants to clean up pollution and work your way through various levels. To aid you, there are several different heroes throughout the game that have special abilities. The one I saw, Captain Monkfish, has a harpoon to help pull down drawbridges and pull open heavy doors. Another hero, Picolo, charms animals that you can put to work. For instance, if you lead chickens to some shrubbery, they'll peck it to pieces, while a bull will ram objects and knock them down.
If you don't have friends in the house with you (this is another local co-op only game), you'll be paired with a second cloud that's controlled by artificial intelligence. Unfortunately, when I tried it out, the poor little guy got stuck often and was more trouble than he was worth. There are still a few months until release to get your cloud pal a better brain, though.
Although I had technical problems with the game (I got stuck in the environment and then kept falling off a bridge while trying to cross it), if Hand Circus cleans it up, Okabu could be a really cute, relaxing puzzle game. Still, I'm super-bummed about no online co-op here, either. It's a downloadable game; make it work online!
Okabu is scheduled to release on the PlayStation Network this summer. YCoi6Gansd8
Buddyl33 03-06-11, 08:00 AM Arcade animated classic Dragon's Lair is coming to the PSN (with trophy support) next week (http://www.psnstores.com/2010/11/rumor-dragons-lair-coming-to-psn/) in 1080P for $10.
I picked this up. Now we can only hope the other Don Bleuth titles follow!
joeblow 03-06-11, 01:17 PM I missed it, but Space Ace was released (http://www.console-arcade.com/2011/02/23/us-psn-update-space-ace-alien-breed-3-descent/) on the PSN two weeks ago:

:D I don't know, but I don't think sex is one of them.

joeblow 03-25-11, 04:01 PM The God of War team is starting with twice as many employees (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/03/25/god-of-war-team-to-double-in-size-for-next-project/) for their next project than they started with for GoW III. It's not known if it is a sequel or a new game altogether:
During this particular part of our growth, which we’re right now at about 105 full time, we’re gonna go to about 200 people which is still huge. I mean God of War II had about 60 people so we grew quite a bit during God of War III.
joeblow 03-26-11, 03:30 PM Adventure game Machinarium gets moved (http://www.vg247.com/2011/03/26/amanita-design-three-titles-announced-one-coming-for-free-in-a-couple-of-weeks/) from our rumor list to the official coming soon list:
Amanita Design’s Jakub Dvorský revealed three of the firm’s upcoming titles at GameCityNights festival (http://www.vg247.com/2011/03/17/machinarium-creator-to-speak-at-gamecitynights-next-week/) in Nottingham last night, and all three are listed below. It was also announced that Machinarium would be heading to PSN.

joeblow 03-29-11, 09:42 PM This (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/03/29/sony-cambridges-aaa-ps3-game-set-for-2012-will-have-online/) sounds interesting.... I wonder what sequel it can be?
2011 is filled with exclusive PlayStation games developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, but if you were worried that they have overloaded the year with games, and left nothing for 2012, think again. The job listing asks for “an engineer to contribute to the studio’s ongoing PlayStation development, on a high-profile title scheduled for 2012 release.” However, it may not see release until the later half of 2012 as the game is still at an “early stage”.
Additionally, the game will almost certainly have online support, with the applicant expected to work on “backend online services” and have a “working knowledge of NP and PSN services on the PlayStation platform, and their in-title integration.”
What the game actually is, is unknown, but it is part of a huge franchise, and is repeatedly referred to as “AAA”. Possible sequels are even hinted at, with the job title allowing for the applicant to “play a key part in shaping its long-term future.”
It’s important to note that the studio never explicitly confirm that the game is their PS3 title – it could be Killzone on NGP – but considering that the listing prefers candidates with PS3 experience, and the fact that the company has recently put up several adverts for other positions on the PS3 team, it’s likely that this is indeed for the PS3.
Are you looking forward to a new MediEvil - the current bookies’ favourite – or are you hoping that the studio is working on a different franchise? Let us know in the comments below.
joeblow 04-06-11, 10:55 AM Heard of Adrift? Me neither, but it's been in development for a long time and is coming exclusively to the PS3 according to rumors (http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/05/adrift-is-ps3-exclusive-first-look-at-details/):
News today from Thesixthaxis says that the Sony’s Playstation 3 has bagged an exclusive title to their console which hopes to be a big release. The title has apparently been in development for three years, therefore developers must have high-hopes.
There is not much information regarding the game yet, however the source says that it looks to be set in a ‘futuristic gothic punk universe’ where the lead character ‘Edge’ could be voiced by Tercelin Kirtley who has worked with Ubisoft on other projects in the past.
The game looks like an action adventure game with a slight RPG twist to it. The concept art shows that there will be many beasts and demons that I’m sure will feature heavily as part of the story, however no official names or details have been announced. We can only say that a title has been confirmed for the PS3 and it looks to be a big hit for the console.
joeblow 04-16-11, 05:46 PM Zindagi Games, developer of the awesome Sports Champions for the Move controller, is working on (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/04/16/sports-champions-dev-working-on-new-ps3-exclusive/) another PS3 exclusive:
Seen as the PlayStation Move’s answer to Wii Sports, Sports Champions is arguably the best game (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2010/09/17/ps3-review-sports-champions/) on the controller, offering a fun experience, while teaching gamers how to use the device. Sports Champions developer Zindagi Games are now creating yet another PlayStation 3 exclusive, presumably for the Move.
The 2nd Party developer has posted a job listing over on Gamasutra (http://jobs.gamasutra.com/JobSeekerX/ViewJob.asp?JobID=PU97ebJnAceN9lccPr0Pm4jKnIkI) looking for a Game/Level Designer and Creative Director for the PS3 platform only. While the game isn’t explicitly listed as a PlayStation Move title, it’s probably safe to assume it is, considering the developer’s experience with the controller. Not only did Zindagi develop Sports Champions, but they “collaborated directly with Sony on the Move tech since its inception all the way through R&D and production.”
Would you like to see a brand new IP for the Move, or perhaps Sports Champions 2? Share your thoughts below
joeblow 04-20-11, 08:08 PM More un-named exclusives on the way (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/04/20/thor-dev-working-on-ps3-exclusive-title/) from the developers of the upcoming Thor and one from the makers of Pain:
Thor: God of Thunder developer Liquid Entertainment are hiring for a new PlayStation 3 only title. According to a recent job listing, creators of the realtime strategy game Battle Realms, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring and the upcoming RPG Thor movie game, will be bringing their next title to PS3.
With the PS3 being the lead platform for Marvel’s latest game, Liquid Entertainment definitely seem to prefer Sony’s console, and now the company have listed a job opportunity for a PS3 game over on Gamasutra (http://jobs.gamasutra.com/JobSeekerX/ViewJob.asp?JobID=O5KxSL%2FrnS1IFRRx5Z9URAlPU3fG). Preferred applicants for the programmer position should have “Familiarity with XBLA and PSN”, so it is likely that the game is a PlayStation Network title, rather than a full retail release. Candidates also have to be “Highly knowledgeable of Unreal Engine 3″ so it is likely that the engine will be used in the game.
With Idol Minds (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/04/12/idol-minds-ps3-exclusive-still-alive-will-be-an-action-title/) and Zindagi Games (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/04/16/sports-champions-dev-working-on-new-ps3-exclusive/) also working on PS3 exclusives, the future of the console’s library certainly looks promising.
joeblow 05-03-11, 04:42 PM Hey WipEout fans, good news (http://playstation.systemlink.me/2011/05/sony-planning-new-wipeout-game-titled.html)! Sony has signed up for two trademarks: WipEout Tinity and WipEout 2048. Perhaps one is a PSN game and the other is for their new NGP portable?

joeblow 05-08-11, 08:40 PM Interesting rumor (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/05/08/heavenly-sword-sequel-rumored-to-be-in-development/) - Heavenly Sword might be getting a sequel:
The pre-E3 rumor mill has begun to churn, and with it comes a sequel to Heavenly Sword, one of the most underrated games for the PlayStation 3 which many feel lost out as it was released during the troubled launch of the PlayStation 3. According to the latest issue of the UK PlayStation Magazine, PlayGamer, the sequel is in development and takes place 10 years after the events of the first game.
According to the magazine it will be an open-world sandbox title featuring re-playable missions and interactive environments. The magazine goes on to say that the Heavenly Sword weapon will not be available from the start of the game and you will have to work your way to obtaining it by mastering different martial arts.
Seeing as how Ninja Theory, the developer behind the original game went on to multiplatform titles, a sequel would have to be worked on by another team. Now again this is just a rumor so take it for what it’s worth but we do have to hope this is one of those rumors that come true.
joeblow 05-09-11, 03:56 PM More "info" on the HS sequel rumor (http://www.vg247.com/2011/05/07/rumor-heavenly-sword-2-in-the-works-more-coming-at-e3/):
And here’s another rumor for you today: A UK gaming magazine is claiming that Heavenly Sword 2 is in the works.
According to PlayGamer (http://thesilentchief.com/2011/05/07/rumor-heavenly-sword-2-details-surface-possible-e3-showing/) (via The Silent Chief), the next game will be set 10 years after the first one, and is an open-world sandbox title.
Missions will be replayable within an interactive environment, and you will have to earn the famous sword in the game by mastering various different disciplines of martial arts.
The magazine suggests players will start out with basic hand-to-hand combat before moving onto more intense physical combat learnings before being able to wield the Heavenly Sword.
More information at E3 is expected according to the article.

Rumors:
Everquest PS3:
While DC Universe Online was Sony Online Entertainment’s fastest selling game ever (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/01/23/dcuo-soes-fastest-selling-game-ever/), the EverQuest series has easily been SOE’s most successful franchise, with the massively multiplayer online role playing game become a critical and commercial hit that spawned a sequel as well as a spin-off PS2 series. The MMO EverQuests have always been only available on PC, but a new job listing hints that the franchise may be headed to PS3.
Over on Gamasutra, three separate job (http://jobs.gamasutra.com/JobSeekerX/ViewJob.asp?JobID=CY7RPDhXO27JqGaIb8aNihmnktt7) listings (http://jobs.gamasutra.com/JobSeekerX/ViewJob.asp?JobID=%2B1HMsg78eeZWC0F%2Bti6fr31uiqob) show (http://jobs.gamasutra.com/JobSeekerX/ViewJob.asp?JobID=1SPlc71lq%2FFurnAt8hwGrgMcVw4M) the PS3 as the platform for EverQuest, with the adverts clearly stating that they are talking about EQ Next:The next installment of the EverQuest franchise is SOE’s next great product that pushes design and technological barriers to expand the nature of the MMO genre. Set in a re-imagined version of the well-loved world of Norrath, EQ Next has its sights set on being as genre-breaking as “EverQuest” and “Planetside” were when SOE originally released them. Come join us as we build the next big thing.
With all three advertisements listing the PS3 as a platform, it seems unlikely that an error was made twice – but we’d still recommend taking this information with a grain of salt.
SOE showed that they are willing to bring MMOs to PS3 with DCUO and Free Realms, but, with The Agency canceled (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/04/01/the-agency-canceled-in-soe-restructure/), they haven’t officially announced any further PS3 MMOs.
Black Troll Studios project (FPS game from Electronic Arts)
LinkedIn might be a great tool for finding a job, or gaining a business connection, but it is also perfect at helping us root out which games are in development, long before an official announcement has been made. This time, a developer working for EA has let it slip that the publisher may be developing a PS3 only first person shooter.
Rick Stalder, who also works for 343 Industries, put on his LinkedIn (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:etplWdvWjCcJ:www.linkedin.com/in/rlstalder+Rick+Stalder+ea&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&source=www.google.co.uk) that he has been working with Black Troll Studios since September 2010 as a contractor on an “Unannounced FPS title in development (PS3)”. His LinkedIn has since been updated (http://www.linkedin.com/in/rlstalder) to replace Black Troll Studios with “Confidential”. While Black Troll haven’t been officially revealed as a developer working for EA, the website blacktrollstudios.com (http://blacktrollstudios.com/) is registered by the publisher, making it highly likely that the studio is indeed owned by EA.
