Hi guys
I am curious if it is possible to get video/audio signal from PS2 to my Sony HDTV(xbr 960) through i.link/firewire.
I have both of my components taken already unfortunately, so this would be a great solution for me.
Has anyone made it work?
Thanks
P.S. I am gong to post this on AVS Firewire forum as well.

interesting question, though the original intention was for system link games on the earlier releases of the PS2. I guess if you could do the same thing with the network adaptor, then you could do it with the firewire : but you can't. From what I understand it was primarily for information to be passed, otherwise when you hooked up another console via firewire you would be sending the audio/video signal to each other and zap! But I suppose you could use a modchip, hack it, write a program, etc...maybe.

Thanks for replying.
I called Sony support. Costumer service representative said that i.link was used for system link in early multilayer games like GT.
I did some internet research also, and I have never come across of anyone mentioning about using i.link as A/V connection method for PS2. I have PS2 with network adapter and HDD, so I was hopping that there is some kind of software solution that enables A/V through i.link in PS2.

i used it for lan parties with timesplitters games and it worked really good for communicating, though the cost of the wires themselves at the time were outrageous: kind of like the prices for HDMI cables. Though I highly doubt there's anyone who has made software for such a feature, I wouldn't give up simply because the monkeys at Sony tell you it can't be done. They sit there with a PS2 manual on their lap and probably know less than the average 12 year old gamer. But it's a nice idea that could have been a great feature if they had thought of it. It's one that HDMI is finally implementing, one wire for all, unless you count rg-59 or rg-6 coaxial cable the original innovator!

Yep I wish Sony would have thought of it. I am buying PS3 either this summer or fall anyway, so I will just hook it up through HDMI and get my PS2/PS3 games that way.
