I read that standard delivery is 5-7 days. Does that mean after the release date?
I have never pre ordered from Warner.
Any experience is welcome.
Thanks

Well I can tell you this much... the last three new releases from Warner Bros. arrived in my home well over a week in advance of street date. However, don't depend on that.

Maybe, Maybe not. I had pre-ordered the Ultimate Matrix Collection a month before it was released from Warner, but when the date came it went on back order, I didn't receive it until a week and a half after it was released. Now I did get the other releases on time, or even a week before time. I think it all depends on the title and how much demand there is. It seems that Warner will give other distributors higher priority over their own store IMHO.

So considering the 300 is one of the most highly anticipated released on HD DVD this summer, I would say, maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it. You are more likely to get it on the 31st if you order it from Amazon and use overnight shipping since they ship their titles on the Monday of that week.

why don't you check one of the 50 other posts that talks about this exact same topic... (might not be 50, but you get my point)

My planet earth was a week after release date. I got my Matrix and Letters from Iwo Jima on the Fri before their release date.

Wow, it should not bother You. Obviously you
have nothing better to do if you had the time to write something like that.

I had ordered "The Ultimate Matrix" the 1st week it was available and even with standard shipping, I received it the day before the official release. I also ordered "300" the 1st day it became available to pre-order so I'm hoping I also get it around the release date if not sooner.

Would it be so terrible if it arrived August 1st?

Of course not, the concern is 5-7 days later

June 10: You place an order for 300 at $24 via the Warner site after coupons.
June 11: Your card has a hold placed on it for $1.
June 31: Your card has a hold placed on it for $1.
July 20: Amazon has a sale on 300 for only $15.99. You go to order it but they are already sold out.
July 22: Someone in Iowa finds a copy of 300 on HD-DVD that fell off a truck. Everyone suddenly agrees that the PQ is better than Pirates and Matrix.
July 27: A bunch of people get their pre-orders from some obscure internet store you never heard of. Suddenly you walk around kicking things into holes while growling something about "This.. IS... ANNOYING."
July 30: Circuit City has 300 on the shelf for $28.95 with a $5 gift card. You try to call Warner to cancel your order but they tell you that they can't stop the order and you'll have to return it after it arrives.
July 31: A bunch of people who live two blocks from the Warner warehouse get their movies.
August 2: You get a notice from Warner saying your 300 title is back-ordered.
August 3: You go to Best Buy and get a copy of 300 from the shelf for $21.95 after price-matching CC and using an internet coupon.
August 4: You try to play the disc and it errors out. You boil it and it develops leopard spots in pattern vaguely reminiscent of a middle finger. Reports of the demise of HD-DVD over disc rot run rampant. Threads about Warner sabotaging HD-DVD are being closed on AVS left and right.
August 5: You try to return the disc to Best Buy but they are out of stock of the HD-DVD version.
August 6: Your copy of 300 from Warner arrives in a box that looks like it was run over by a semi-truck. You discover it has slipped off the (now broken) spindle and is scratched beyond playability. You call Warner but they don't have any stock and can't find your order in their system anyway.
August 7: You buy a Blu-Ray player, a third copy of 300, and a sledgehammer.

(Sorry, was reliving my "Planet Earth" order.)

Eh, you're probably better off not preordering from WB. Just wait to release day like most of us and watch for those occasional bargains like Circuit City Matrix set deal for $ 19.99. I am sure there will be others like it. I know cause I preordered mine and bought in-store when WB told me its backordered. One day after I bought it in-store the WB order arrived. Now I have two.

Return the WB one with the receipt from the in-store one. Its the same UPC.

I will never buy anything from WHV ever again. I purchased Planet Earth and Pre-Ordered Ultimate Matrix Collection from them. With Planet Earth, my order was eventually placed on back-order when pretty much every other AVSer was getting theirs already. While the order was on back-order I found it at a significantly cheaper price at amazon.com but when I called WHV to cancel my order, all they would tell me is that they would place a "cancellation request". The next day after I put in my "cancellation request" I saw the status as shipped! So I had 2 orders of PE arrive and I refused the order from WHV. Suffice it to say that I still have not received a refund from them for that order.

To their credit, my copy of UMC shipped with no problems although they did charge my card way before they actually shipped it, which is contrary to their policy.

Again, I won't buy anything from WHV ever again, I think most people here will agree that Amazon.com is where it's at.

But I'd lose out $ 10 , so I'll take my chances of getting a WB refund.

Warner Home Video works great for me.

I ordered two catalog items & pre-ordered Matrix Trilogy & Letters from Iwa Jima back in early April. I had the two catalog items in a week, and Matrix & Iwa Jima arrived Monday before release date.

In May I pre-ordered the 2 John Wayne movies, Blood Diamond & 300. John Wayne was on my doorstep Monday before release date, and am confident Blood Diamond & 300 will follow the same path.

I have the Amazon 10% discount from last year, but WB's 20% discount off their listed price is a much better deal, and WB's free shipping is much faster than Amazon's. I will use WHV for all Warner releases. ;)

Well I just tried ordering 300 and Blood Diamond from the warner link I found in another thread. Seems you can no longer add 300 to your cart. Bummer, they'd be great together with the 15% off and free shipping deal through 6/30. I'll try again later in the month and see what happens.

You have to open the movie details and then add to cart, as the add to cart on the summary page errors out. But it seemed to work fine for me as well.

Thanks a lot! That was my problem. I wasn't sure if it was because I had something previously in my cart or what. I cleared out the cart. That didn't work. But then I saw your post about actually clicking the movie for the details and it did work. Placed my order a few minutes ago. Thanks again...
