I just got an HD Leeza (firmware v5.6.15) on the cheap, and I have a couple of questions:

1. Is there any way to make the unit provide true 1920x1080i component output, or are you forced to use 1920x540p instead when outputting component video to a 1080i-only HDTV?

2. Is there any way to achieve component video pass-through on the unit? The RGBHV bypass mode doesn't seem to work for this, and I'd like to be able to pass 1080i signals through unadulterated, if possible.

Thanks.

Jer,

You've got a great processor - I have one myself and am a key digital dealer.

No choice for 1080i - Key Digital has had a long standing philosophy that progressive scan is better than interlaced. This is also why you can't pass through 1080i component. The unit scales all inputs to the output resolution you select.

If you want to be realy amazed, get yourself a SDI modified DVD player/

Thanks for the answers.

I picked up the scaler mainly to get 720p-only PlayStation 3 games to work in HD on my 1080i-only TV, and 1920x540p is sufficient for that purpose -- I just notice the resolution decrease when I pass in a 1080i signal and it comes out as 540p. I guess I'll just keep doing a manual bypass on 1080i sources, and only loop through the Leeza for 720p sources.
