genfuyung 06-09-07, 06:15 PM Im about to order 6 hd dvds from them 2 are in stock, 2 will ship next week it says, and the other 2 will ship after that. Anyone ordered from them before? Hows their free shipping time? I cant find where they are located.
Claw97000 06-09-07, 06:38 PM Hey, just letting you know I ordered from them last week. I got my DVD's in 2 days, which was VERY FAST considering how I heard their shipping was slow. However, I also noticed when I placed my order I got charged tax. I investigated and got answers to why I got it so fast and why I was charged tax : They are located in ILLINOIS, which is where I am. I had no complaints with how things were packaged, all done well. But since I am located probably less than 3 hours from their warehouse and it took 2 days to get my package after I got a shipping notice I can see why people say they ship so slow.
Uh yeah that's why your shipping was so fast.
Since the OP doesn't give a clue to where he lives, I'll tell you this, the farther away from DDD your are, the longer it will take.

lgans316 06-09-07, 11:08 PM They take about 5-7 days for processing your order and shipment duration mostly depends upon the shipment option you choose at the time of placing the order. I live in Tokyo and am awaiting the delivery of my orders dated Jun-01-2007.

I get faster arrivals during the 20% off sale too. Non-sale times have taken up to 2 full weeks. Now its a few days or so. Maybe its just a coincidence.
I've bought from them a few times. With and without the sales. They were pthologically slow. Paying extra for expidited shipping brings them up tojust extremely slow. I don't buy fom them anymore, even with the discount, they aren't cheap enough to warrant the wait. Amazon is still better, usually cheaper too.

Gojhawks 06-10-07, 12:08 PM It truly seems to depend on where you are located. I ordered last Sunday afternoon, had an e-mail it shipped Monday and received in eastern Kansas on Saturday. Less than a week for FREE ground shipping is fast enough for me. In the past I have paid extra for expedited shipping. Unless I have to have it quickly for some reason, I will be using free shipping option from here on out.
Of course as they say, your mileage may vary
BrandonJF 06-10-07, 12:14 PM I would've used their expedited shipping option, but when you read the fine print concerning each shipping method, they warn that the shipping method you choose (and pay for) will only be applied to the first item that ships, if the shipment is broken up. I didn't see an option to force them to ship everything together and wasn't sure if that was just standard. But, I didn't want to risk it.
But, yes, expect it to take at least 2 weeks and if it gets there quicker, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The stuff I buy from their sale is typically stuff I'm not in a hurry for. And I was a little nervous buying Planet Earth from them, given some of the stories concerning loose discs... I don't think I've ever done a return with DDD that I can recall and am not sure how smooth that process is (nothing can beat Amazon, I'd imagine - the way they handle returns is the best).
Diehardfan 06-10-07, 12:18 PM There's no rhyme or reason to their shipping. They're located roughly 10 miles from me and Ive gotten shipments in 2 days and Ive got them in 10 days. They're so close that I looked into picking them up but I was told that they are strictly mail order so I'm forced to wait it out like everyone else.

The last order I placed with them took only 4 days to get here (Denver). However, previous orders sometimes took up to 2 weeks. It is hit or miss with these guys.

DavidEC 06-10-07, 01:52 PM I have ordered from them for years and on the average for delivery to Kansas it has taken 10days from the order date to arrive in my mail box.... but of course it all depends on if the item is in stock.. I have had items arrive in as short as two days and as long at six weeks for out of stock items.... all ordered under the free shipping option.

I don't think it's the retailer that is gonna be as responsible for loose discs as it is the packaging and how much it's thrown around during the delivery process. There are certain packaging types that I've never had much luck with from any retailer (online or B&M). The old Fox digipacks almost always had loose discs. The double sided plastic trays from WB constantly had them. And then there is that horrible packaging where the hubs are in the insides of the plastic case.
My only concern with DDD is that given how long it takes to receive discs, the return/re-order process would just be horriffic... if you end up getting a scratched disc, I could see it being a month between initial order and second copy. Amazon will have a replacement to you within 1-2 days, which I love. I just hold onto my first copy in case there are some different loose discs in the 2nd set, then I can just mix and match to build a good set. It beats standing at the Best Buy customer service counter and going through 3 different sets to build a good one.
I've been lucky during the last two 20% off sales I participated in - no loose discs. I even got that Buffy complete series set and all discs were fine (although, with that packaging, it would be hard for them to be loose).

rosscan 06-10-07, 11:20 PM Deepdiscount always takes a week minimum to get here on the east coast. I wasn't going to risk ordering any HD from them on this sale cause I've had some things in the past come poorly packed and shipped. Some damaged because of it :mad:

Heh, I've ordered quite a few times with them and honestly, Ive never really paid much attention to their packaging. That's probably a good thing. Im know I would have noticed if something was either extraordinarily good or bad. I would say they are pretty much cookie-cutter....about the same as most everyone else.

No, but they're shipping HD discs in boxes designed for DVD keepcases. This means there's more rattling around in the box going on.
I've received 3 HD DVDs in two shipments in the past few days. 2 of the discs were floaters, and one is looking so scuffed I may well have to return it.

Was told, sorry it's ready to ship today and can't be cancelled. Tried to reason with them, no good. So, I guess I will refuse the shipment and send it right back to them. I'm calling back later today to see if it really shipped. If not, I plan on insisting it be cancelled. Trying to figure why they wouldn't want to just cancel it. Are they hoping I will change my mind and keep it?

no, the boxes(cardboard boxes) they ship the hd-dvds/bds in are made to fit the DVD style case so it is more likely to shift.
I placed an order for planet earth and the searchers on Saturday. They emailed that they shipped today. They originally listed the searchers as backordered, but I guess it became available.
I'll see how long it takes to get here and the condition of the discs...

Really, I don't mind it at all - I have no problems waiting an extra day or three if it means I'll save two bucks (or whatever). I've saved a ton of cash over the years by going with them instead of somewhere that ships faster for more money.
I've never had a problem with something damaged during shipping. I get loose discs occasionally once I open the shrinkwrap, but as already has been said, that's more the shipping company's fault and/or the fault of whoever created the packaging.

While I plan on getting a BR player at some point, I am no hurry right now to make another purchase. What's worse is a friend of mine ordered from them, and then he was notified from UPS that his $100 order was going to cost an additional $55.00 or so for "import fees"? What the hell is that? Not duty but import fees?
The combination of UPS and deep discount is a complete disaster and I would never order from them again. They can keep their jacked up prices with a supposed "20%" discount. :(

It might take a little while longer to process since you are overseas, Deepdiscount.com is an American based company so there might be a few hoops to jump through for exporing $500+ worth of HD DVDs. My shipment of 2 HD DVDs took 9 days.... 18 seems long I would definitely contact them to see whats up. They might be waiting until all the movies you ordered are instock.
Now to the less serious part of my post...

I ordered one HDDVD on 6/13/2007, ordered two more on 6/14/2007, all with the 20% off on top the of the discount and free shipping. I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. Today is 6/18/2007 and I just picked up both orders from the mailbox.
I just checked my email and an email from DD metioning that the 6/13/2007 order was just shipped. How can? I already recieved it. The 6/14 order was still showing as being processed on the track your shipment page.

Since the sale, I've noted much slower order > shipped times, as well as titles showing & ordered "In Stock", then showing as backorders routinely set back (yet again & one title twice) as the "est ship date" approached.
That said, this is not disturbing to me as I don't deem the receipt of a DVD to be any stretch of an emergency.. really. :rolleyes:
I know... must be something wrong with me... messed-up childhood, p'haps.
This being the case, my ordered HD titles have been shipping to me "piece-meal", packed loose & rattling inside of Std. DVD shippers. :eek:
However, to date, none have been shook from the spindle or otherwise damaged. :)

When I didn't receive a shipping confirmation after a number of days, I had to log in to my account to see that it was backordered. No notification, nothing. And there's no easy way to cancel the order either. You have to fill out their online form. Of course, as soon as I did that - boom, shipping notification e-mail within 3 hours.
Based on that experience, from now on, I'll only order from DD when they have 20% off coupons.

As far as cancelling, call Customer Service via telephone call toll-free 800-264-5076 (phone # found under 'HELP').
That's what I did to cancel one SD DVD last year, ... and this last month when one of my 20% off HD DVD order's didn't arrive within their "FREE" shipping time frame. They sent it out again the next day and I received it in 3-days.

Have had several recent orders appear as "In-Stock" in my cart, only to have them show as B.O. after I commit the purchase.
One title, then had it's "expected date" change (pushed back) 3 times.
Historically, they shipped "next day" on nearly all my orders.. lately it's 2-4 days before they "show" as shipped, and as often as not I get no e-mail "shipped" notice.
Used to be 3-4 days from "Shipped" to my mail box, now it seems to, more often, go closer to the outside limit.
I'm irked, at the moment, 'cause I had Pre-Ordered "Black Snake Moan", which no theater in my area showed (so I was really anticipating it's arrival), on HD-DVD and apparently they shipped the day after street-date... when it arrived yesterday afternoon, they had sent me the Standard DVD version, so now I'm back in the waiting mode! :mad:

The status can also be checked online though they don't display the avl date.
The backorder items were shipped on Jun/13 and so far no trace of it. I contacted Tokyo customs and Japan post and they mentioned that they didn't receive any package. One of the package that was shipped after this was delivered but it was damaged to an extent while shipping from US. Pics attached.

DD sent my copy of V for Vendetta to the wrong country. Well, it took a month to arrive in my place and the package looked pretty battered (but the HD DVD was o.k.). Most of my other DD orders have arrived within three weeks. I am still waiting for a few - I think they were on backorder.

Order two or three and I have enough saved to pay for a forth by just waiting....
So if they want to strap my order to the warehouse to the back of a snail, and the snail gets cooked and toss away before the disc's find their way here then I still do not mind the wait.....
I will still have one more disc than I would had by not waiting...

I am expecting similar thing happen to me. Already the Planet Earth case got battered and now it's time for the Trilogy to follow similar footsteps.

At this point, if your card was charged that long ago and you've received no merchandise, you should contact your CC company and initiate a dispute. Usually when banks get involved, merchants will bend over backwards to make sure you get your merchandise or a full refund.

What this is.. the shipping post office holds ALL packages shipped in this manor till they reach 50 pounds or more and then hands off to DHL GROUND a closed USPS "BAG" which they then deliver to one of the ten central USPS sorting stations which then will do a sub-sort and these sub sorts are held till X days or 50 pounds for your zip area's local post office which then will sort and send it to your carrier unit....
Or at least that was how it was done two years ago...
I ordered 3 (Matrix Trilogy, Video Essentials and Plant Earth) on 6/25 and received them on 7/5 with free shipping. Packing was OK. Will definitely order from them again.

nikonjava 07-17-07, 12:03 PM LGans316, sorry to hear about your problems with DD. I had similar problem with them. But I live in the U.S. and had just ordered 2 HD-DVDs that were in stock. Never received them. When I called them the rep offered to send them again. But I did not receive the 2nd shipment either. So the second time when I called them yesterday, she has offered me a refund of twice the amount of the purchase price. Hopefully I will get that refund. I suggest you ask your friends in U.S. to follow up with them with a phone call.

WTF when I have emailed them several times and never received any proper reply what the hell will they do by speaking over phone. They may rewind and playback the standard CSR reply.
I will soon be contacting my CC Issuer to dispute the transaction.

My patience has been tested to it's extreme. 38 days of wait from the shipping date and 50 days since order date and no signs of the shipment. The MFs in the CSR doesn't respond to any of my queries since past Monday.
Just dispute the charge with your credit card company, inform Deep Discount that you are disputing it, and then order the stuff from somewhere else. It's really not worth letting them get in your head over this.
I ordered from them through their 20% off sale. Three of the shipments were pretty good, but the last order it took them forever to send. My shipping status kept saying out of stock, yet when you looked online at the title it was in stock and ready for shipping. I called them and told them to either ship it or cancel it. Got it a few days later. I think I'll stick with Amazon from now on.
My experience after many purchases from DDDVD is be patient. Shipping to California takes 2 weeks and longer. Their prices are excellent. Especially considering the free shipping. And their customer service is also quit good. But as I said. If you order from California consider it a future investment because you will have a healthy wait.

They have asked me to confirm the Shipping Address so that they can resend the missing items. The funny thing is all their orders were shipped to this address and they want me to verify the address again de spite doing this more than 6 times. All my previous orders were delivered in less 3 weeks. I hope that they resend the items faithfully. I have anyway requested the bank to dispute the transaction if they don't resend the items within 1 week.

You might also want to try Better Business Bureau route. This is an organization that works with the company to resolve the disputes that the consumer has.

I am not sure if they have charged my CC for the reshipped items. It's illegal for them to charge my CC for reshipment.
They have been overlooking my mails everytime and now they have reshipped the entire order and not the part of it.
Call your credit card company and explain the situation to them. They will know more than anyone here.
I would email DeepDiscount back and tell them that you will send the items back at their expense, otherwise they can pound dirt.

Anyway while checking slickdeals.net I came across a deal on Terminator Salvation Blu-ray + Digital Copy for $6.25 with free shipping. So I thought lets give them another try after 6 a six year hiatus.
Well it seems things haven't gotten any better for them. After 20 business days the disc still hasn't arrived from when they shipped it. Called and spoke with a rep. who reshipped the order with upgraded 2 day UPS service (on them) but after 2 days I've yet to receive an order notice. So called yesterday and the order was never processed through their system ... :confused: ... anyway I did receive an order notice after speaking with the second rep. but no notice that the item has actually shipped. Maybe Monday I'll get that ... :rolleyes:
Lesson learned, never no matter how good the deal will I order from them again. Yeah its only $6.25 but that's really not the issue.
