Is it possible? Do any of the current PS2 to PS3 adaptors support it correctly? Is there anyone out there who plays DDR on their PS3? Just curious ... couldn't find any threads on this when I ran a search. Thanks!

The PS3 does not understand any adapters. Mongoos150 06-10-07, 02:48 AM 'Tis a sad sad thing, we'll have to keep breaking out our PS2s to play DDR... hopefully Konami will release a new system for us. eyerox 06-10-07, 11:50 AM Nope. The PS3 does not understand any adapters. You are misinformed. The last ddr for the ps2 works. I think it was the update before last that allowed you to use dualshocks with rumble on ps2 games. This update also removed the need to press the "PS" button. The dance pad now works when used with the radio shack PSX adapter. DDR is fully functional on my PS3. Chacolla 06-10-07, 09:17 PM The update definitely does not remove the need to press the PS button. Me and a friend have been playing an old mortal kombat game for a while now and I have v1.8. Every time the game loads, the little text box appears and says "press the PS button now". If the PS button doesn't need to be pressed anymore, why can people stillnot play guitar hero 2? eyerox 06-10-07, 10:34 PM The update definitely does not remove the need to press the PS button. If the PS button doesn't need to be pressed anymore, why can people stillnot play guitar hero 2? Ask someone who owns Guitar Hero 2.... My understanding is that the game works now, but the strum doesn't work properly. I could be wrong. I don't own the game. I own DDR. I play DDR. (actually, my girlfriend plays...I coach) I can use the PS2 version and the ps2 pad and the PSX adapter to play it on my PS3. I believe this is what this thread is about. I also play God of War. I do not have to hit the PS button to play it with my ps2 controller. PS. I just loaded MORTAL COMBAT:Armageddon. Again I don't have to hit the PS button to play it with a ps2 controller. You do understand that that is what we are talking about, right? The ability to use ps2 controllers or pads to play ps2 games on the ps3 is the topic (as it relates to DDR) of this thread. If your using a ps3 controller you might have to hit the "PS" button, but that has NOTHING to do with this thread or conversation. Mongoos150 08-10-07, 01:54 PM Does ANYONE know when/if a new DDR is coming out for PS3? With a wireless/USB pad comes out so we don't have to mess with adapters? I haven't heard a peep out of Konami... I would hate it if they didn't release a new version... SpeedyHTPC 08-10-07, 03:56 PM I got an adaptor from compusa that will allow ps2 pads to work with ps3. I also can confirm that it works. SpeedyHTPC 08-10-07, 04:00 PM You are misinformed. The last ddr for the ps2 works. I think it was the update before last that allowed you to use dualshocks with rumble on ps2 games. This update also removed the need to press the "PS" button.. Youre not that well informed. The information that gets passed around here using the same "DDR" is what throws off everyone. I own the original DDR and hell if I'm going to buy another one for the PS2 to get it working with yet another PSX adapter that would work only half assed. Like I said I found an adapter that will work with my DDR, including pressing the PS button. Mongoos150 08-10-07, 07:15 PM If Konami would hurry up with a PS3 edition, many people would be happy... They'd make bank. Come on, guys. snookalo 08-10-07, 11:39 PM Supernova works great with the Pelican adapter. It has a PS button. Told that with GH it works well also, just not GH2. Haven't tried either one of those, just DDR Supernova. eyerox 08-11-07, 10:25 AM Youre not that well informed. Like I said I found an adapter that will work with my DDR, including pressing the PS button. I'm sorry, but I don't understand this paragraph. It seems as if your saying DDR doesn't work with an adapter, and then you say it does. And, I have only tried with DDR supernova. Are you saying that the other DDR's don't work? Sorry for the confusion, but I don't understand what you wrote. SpeedyHTPC 08-12-07, 03:20 PM My DDR is the original made for the Playstation. It looks like its not any Playstation 2 release. However the adapter I got plays it on the PS3. But I'm not going to buy anymore DDRs for the Playstation 2 just to get it working on the PS3 since theres a new one due out that is native on the PS3. wingzz 08-14-07, 09:54 AM I tried searching for this info here but I seem to have a hard time with the AVS search engine so I have a question or two about using PS2 games on the PS3 I just am trying to be sure here before I sell my PS2 (and my daughter kills me) I want to be sure that guitar hero and DDR both work with the PS3 and the dance pad and the GH controller will work with the PS3 If I need to get an adapter thats not a big deal as long as it works, just let me know what I need to buy Mongoos150 08-14-07, 02:11 PM ...since theres a new one due out that is native on the PS3.What say you? Where'd you get this info? vvrok 11-18-07, 04:31 PM Can somebody post a link (or item number) to an adapter I need to get from RadioShack in order to make DDR work on PS3? Thanks vvrok 11-19-07, 09:48 PM Anybody can help out? Daughter wants it for xmas... vvrok 11-25-07, 01:55 PM Trying one more time... I would settle for the exact (or close to exact) name of the product so that I can go to RadioShack and show it to the employee eyerox 11-25-07, 06:39 PM http://www.radioshack.com/search/manualResults.jsp?sr=1&origkw=psx&kw=psx&kwCatId=&hideBackToAll=true This is the owners manual to the adapter that I own which allows me to play ddr supernova on my ps3. vvrok 11-25-07, 09:21 PM Thanks. I was not able to find an item with that number on RadioShack's website. Maybe it is discontinued? Can somebody post a picture of the DDR setup with PS3? SpeedyHTPC 11-26-07, 12:19 AM This adapter from CompUSA does allow PS2 DDR to work with PS3 because it emulates every button. This is the only adapter that worked for me with the original DDR for PS2 when used on the PS3. It should work for DDR Hottest Party too. Forget a native PS3 DDR. It was just a rumor that I saw. http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=BROWSE&No=0&N=201273&product_code=345027 |
