View Full Version : June 26th = Comedy nirvana
mva5580 06-10-07, 02:43 PM The Big Lebowksi and Mallrats on the SAME DAY?! Are you freaking kidding me? That day can't come soon enough. I remember buying Lebowski as one my first DVD's back in its infancy and now I'm doing it again for HD-DVD!
It'll really tie my HD-DVD collection together :)
OVER THE LINE!!!
I have both of these pre-ordered. Can't wait...
Jay Mammoth 06-10-07, 03:49 PM I have Mallrats, Bulletproof, and Dead Silence pre-ordered at amazon.
sharkshark 06-10-07, 04:17 PM as mentioned in the prev. Lebowski thread, I'm fully prepared to be disappointed with this release, yet will buy it anyway. Why? Cuz I'm a fool, that's why...
I think I'm good with my SD Mallrats, tho... If Kev could actually shoot a pretty movie, that'd be one thing, but I'm not sure the upgrade is warranted for that particular gem.
evolver 06-10-07, 04:36 PM I Am the Walrus.
I Am the Walrus.
Shut the f**k up, Donny. :D
halfsane 06-10-07, 05:21 PM cant wait !

The Dude abides at my house on June 27th :D
CowboysGuy1874 06-10-07, 07:30 PM Don't forget about the reissue of Army of Darkness. Non-combo goodness.
mlankton 06-10-07, 08:08 PM Really looking forward to Knocked Up in September. Very funny movie.
Arpeggi 06-10-07, 08:18 PM Mallrats sucks.
Slim GoodBooty 06-10-07, 08:21 PM Lebowski looked great on Starz, so I expect it to look better on HDDVD.
/enters thread
Kingpin > Big Lebowski
/Runs away from thread as fast as possible
;)
Jay Mammoth 06-10-07, 08:55 PM Mallrats sucks.
You suck.
Omegasaber 06-10-07, 09:06 PM Got Mallrats pre-ordered, I'll pass on Lebowski, never really cared for it.
TheCrackedJack 06-10-07, 09:12 PM Got Mallrats pre-ordered, I'll pass on Lebowski, never really cared for it.
I feel the exact opposite :p
evolver 06-10-07, 09:16 PM You suck.
Don't take it personally. Maybe somebody stinkpalmed him or something.
And it did kinda suck, but any movie with Jay and "that tubby b*tch" can't be all bad.

I wasn't taking it personally, he made me think of the little kid in Billy Madison that says Donkey Kong sucks. :) This movie is great to a comic book fan like me though,
worth it for the Superman/Lois Lane having a baby and Stan Lee stuff alone.
Don't forget about the reissue of Army of Darkness. Non-combo goodness.
On the contrary. Go get the combo disc while you can. It has the best/detailed SD DVD transfer to date (including the R3). This would be the ONLY combo disc I would recommend getting before it goes away forever. Check out my comparison on page 3....

And yes, the dude will be on my screen on the 26th.
ShagMan 06-11-07, 08:23 AM I love these titles, there's no doubt, but I have to say that the two Paramount-released Eddie Murphy titles that cam eout last week (Trading Places and Coming to America) are two of my all-time favorites.
Having said that, the Dude definitely abides!
CPR Jose Ortiz 06-11-07, 08:25 AM Ive never watched The Big Lebowksi. How good is it?
MALLRATS!? Thats a given!
chad473 06-11-07, 09:36 AM Lebowski is one of my all time favorites. I'm quite sure I've seen that movie over 100 times. no brainer purchase.
Ive never watched The Big Lebowksi. How good is it?
It's definitely not for everyone, but it's one of my favorite movies. Different, but great (imo.)
fiddlesticks 06-11-07, 12:26 PM Can't wait for Big Lebowski, already dumped off my SD disc in anticipation. So it better be good.
Are there any extras?
Mallrats, definitely. Anything by Kevin Smith is an instant must-buy.
Though I've never seen The Big Lebowski I've heard enough good things about it to warrant a "blind buy".
cleaver 06-14-07, 11:17 AM Bulletproof sucks. Absolutely horrendous.
Big Lebowski is great.
TV Casualty 06-14-07, 03:09 PM Mallrats is something I've actually grown to DISLIKE more over time. That film, along with Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, really strike me as some pretty mediocre Kevin Smith films.
Strange since I used to enjoy it.
I just bought the damn 10 year disc a year ago, I'm not buying it for the second time in 12 months and the third time overall. I'll probably grab it once the price drops.
Getting Lebowski because I haven't seen it (I know, I know) and people I know who I generally trust for opinions on films enjoyed it.
Interesting note on the Army of Darkness combo having a stronger SD side than other SD editions. I don't really think the extra money vs. the reissue is worth buying it yet again, but I'll take it into consideration.
Jonny_eh 06-14-07, 03:23 PM Lebowski is one of those films that gets funnier each time you watch it. The first time through you're just too confused by the plot and can't enjoy the great characters. It is HIGHLY rewatchable, unlike most comedies.
Eddie Horton 06-14-07, 04:15 PM Lebowski's not out already? That's a bummer, man.

So you have no frame of reference here, Eddie. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know...
