Moved from the Pearl to the RS-1..the screen size was restricted to 110 as my local HDguys said that a 123 will be too much for the PEARL to handle....well now that I am onto the RS-1 wanted to know what size and gain screens are optimal...it is for a dedicated light controlled theater room..seating will be at 18ft...........thanks :)

I can't answer your question, but I have a question for you....
Was the difference in picture quality/contrast/etc enough to justify upgrading your projector so soon? Were you happy with the Pearl, but the RS1 was that much better? I'm curious -- i'm getting an RS1 and hope the upgrade will wow me... if going from Pearl to RS1 was worht it, I have no doubt my upgrade will be worth it.

Fwiw, I'm using a 110" 16x9 ST130 with the RS-1 towards the longest throw and low/normal lamp mode and it looks fine. I have 250 hrs on the lamp so far and the brightness is fine.

I am sorry if i gave that impression.....i do not own the Pearl.....i had decided to get the PEARL for my HT.....but got the sanction to spend somemore so that I can get the RS-1.....it is based on the reviews and experience of the guys here....i cannot comment on the PQ of the RS-1 as i have not set my eyes on one...there is no place in this city that has one.......based on what i read here i am sure that u will get the "wow" bug when u get ur PJ..all the best :)

Da-Lite 119" 16:9 Cinema Contour 1.3 Gain with Pro Trim.
I will be moving to a SMX open weave soon though, I've seent he RS1 on SMX it looks really good.
136" 2.35/1 Carada BW 1.4 gain, CH set-up winds up being about 109" in 16x9. I am still using low lamp but I will go to high lamp as the lamp ages. I do have total light control, but not quite a bat cave.

I was going thru the threads that Mark directed me too....most of u guys have the RS-1 paired with HP(I assume that is Dalite High power)..I am just wondering why that was the preference since I know that the pj itself is plenty bright...
I have to mount the pj on the cieling at a distance of 12ft from the screen(construction issues)....HP will b too bright for me?????..seating at 18ft...size i'm thinking 123"..thanks.
