I do not have these films on standard DVD or VHS, but I see them on HD-DVD and I am fairly interested. I'm not too worried about extra/HD related bonus materials since I don't have the SD special features at all (everything will be new to me no matter what), but I'm curous about the picture quality and audio on these films:

-A Christmas Story
-Army of Darkness
-National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
-The Breakfast Club
-Batman Begins

Batman Begins PQ and AQ is amazing, you will not be disappointed. Christmas Vacations PQ is fine, definitely an improvement from the SD version but not
reference material.

The best the theatrical version has ever looked. The audio isn't as good as the MGM Director's Cut DVD released in Hong Kong though.

That's good to hear about this film. This is the one I am most interested in getting (plan on getting it on the 26th when it is reissued before I see Spamalot that night).

I have the Breakfast Club. Although better than the standard DVD release, the film is very grainy and the audio, which is mostly dialog, is restrained to the center front channel. One of the lesser impressive HD titles, but a good movie none the less.

any hd dvd is going to be a step up from dvd, period.

Batman Begins is an awesome HD-DVD, Great picture awesome sound and really good IME

I am also interested in hearing about christmas vaction movie. And how is the grinch? I love having these christmas movies to watch every year. I already bought a christmas story. Its been a while since I've seen grinch and while I dont remember too much about it, I do remember it having a visual appeal.

They're re-releasing Army of Darkness soon as a non-combo...you might want to wait for that. PQ might be better, also.
