We look forward to reports and pictures from anyone attending:)

Heres an outtake from DPIs news letter. They will be there in flying colors. Love to hear how the Titan 250 1080 looks along with their latest 1 chip.

Thanks!

Welcome To infoComm 2007!

Digital Projection has a variety of exciting displays and events planned for infoComm 2007 in Anaheim. Along with our own impressive multi-screen exhibit on the show floor (booth 2419) and our powerful display in the Large Venue Gallery, DP products will be making great images in many partner locations on the infoComm map.

In regard to new products, DP’s new Pro Series II projectors will command attention with their bright and accurately rendered images. Be sure to look for the new LIGHTNING 40-1080p (20,000 ANSI lumens, 2000:1 contrast) and the new high-brightness, dual-lamp TITAN 600 series projectors. Both platforms will be displayed making beautiful, 27’ wide imagery in the Large Venue Gallery. Also new at infoComm, all of our single-chip DLP® projectors will be enabled with DP’s ColorMaxTM precision calibration capability as well as the exciting new Brilliant ColorTM technology from Texas Instruments. Be sure to stop by the DP booth for a brief tour of our newest precision displays.

On Wednesday evening at The Grove in Anaheim, DP is a main sponsor of the Texas Instruments infoComm party featuring the B-52’s! Two LIGHNTING Pro Series II projectors will be flanking the stage, delivering the HD IMAG during the concert. TITAN Pro projectors will be providing the same HD imagery in the Grove’s entrance Gallery.

Many of our industry partners have requested the support of DP’s precision displays for their own exhibits. Look for our TITAN, dVision, and iVision projectors at Dataton, Stewart Filmscreen, Vutec, Datavisual, Custom Display Systems, Sencore, Large Screen Displays, Schneider Optics and Scaleable Displays.
We look forward to seeing you at the show!

Dizzman. Would you please do an unibiased review of the new Pioneer plasmas. I popped my knee and can't justify the pain of walking the floor. But there are countless souls in the plasma forum that would appreciate you impartial assesment. These units have a black matrix element in side the phopspor casing and a newly developed intgrated ASIC for the processing.

Of course Fujitsu being the third largest Computer manufacturer could out asic Pionner every day, but the inquiring folk at that forum deserve a candid assesment. Thanks.

I'm tempted to make the drive, but need a pass. I'm not going to pay to get in.
If I go, its about $35 in gas.

BTW, is there a list of exhibitors somewhere? I'm assuming that the shootouts are long dead. My reticence is mainly because I don't expect much new out of Infocomm. If I get a chance to see 1 or 2 PJs that I'm interested in it might be worth it. Unfortunately, the viewing conditions won't compare with my environment and I hate to waste my time.

If you need a pass, i have a bunch.

The shootout is gone, but the large venue display showcase is rather impressive.

Attendance from this board anyway really came to a halt once that shootout ended. Thats when many of the HT manufactures who use to participate left as well.

Glad to see a few still attending. Im sure there is still something gained from the show. Look forward to the reports. Thanks guys.

losing the shootout was a loss for sure. although it was the manufacturers who killed it.

THey felt it was not valid anymore. And while they had the chance to look as good as others, they also had the chance to look really bad due to a possible bad machine.

Please look for the rumored 4000 ANSI lumen 4k res super big brother to RS1.

CINERMAX
Is DPI Titan 1080p-250 to be carried so long that it enters the world as 1080p-300. I ask since DPI is changing out 250W for 300W to create a dual bulb Titan pro 1080p-600. Then a single bulb version looks natural to be 1080p-300. I guess you like the ColorMax calibration system now introduced. Measure x,y and L for rgb and let the software transform all your inputs to D65.

Makes sense, hope you are correct. In a way the color max is a poor man's version of the TIP7 where you masure yourprimaries with a SA and then let the projector self calibrate to rec 709or 601.

That is huge news. Assuming their primaries are correct.

What do you think is the best choice in the "low end" of the high end, Titan pro2 1080p-600 or Titan 1080p-250 (to be born as Titan pro2 1080p-300?)?
The question is probably what an aperture plate could do for the contrast on a Titan pro2 1080p-600.
From DPI information it seems that pro2 will have both ColorMax and xenon-mode.

The single bulb has more contrast. Aperture plates are now a discussion for Barco and Christie digital cinema.

I don't think I'll go, I've got a busy week.

the RS1 looks fantastic, bit the 4K from JVC is still not a projector with a roadmap. The demo is mindblowing, but Japan has still not decided what to do with 4K. THere is just not a plan for 4K in the future. ALthough JVC has a 4 K camera. Looks killer BTW

It could make sense for JVC to let the customers find out what can be done with a 4k projector. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. Just sell it JVC! Customer feedback can then evolve the platform. Why wait for the competition to catch up?

Did you get to see the first 3DLP from Projection design called M80 of F80?

Thanks for the report.

Alan,
Your right. Back in the 'Good Old Days' this was a must if you wanted to see A/B side by side comparisons of all the MFGs in one room. That and the Extron party :D

When the digitals started to come out they all looked the same and there was no FTB to be found. To much light from the others.

I got my comp passes but its not what it use to be now that everything is 'distribution'. Really miss that 'Shoot Out' Doug

the proto was in the dark behind a wall. THe camera looked very much like a proto.

I fogot to also mention how good the barco 4mm LED looked. Once the stuff in the lab makes it into the open, there will be many people debating LED or Projection or TV for more open rooms.

Dizzy old chap did you have a chance to see the new pioneer plasmas and where they notably of better black levels? The People in the Fujitsu 65" thread a the plasma forum were salivating over that issue.

they looked pretty nice. they seem to have gotten better control over the low level dithering.

Found a pic. they are impressive indeed. It is important to understand that some of that massive weight is due to the fact that structurally they have to handle the weight of all the others below and beside them.
