View Full Version : HD-DVD, any special packaging/limited editions in the future? JuiceRocket 06-11-07, 03:50 PM I'm curious if anyone has heard of any special packaging or limited editions coming up? Thanks, -JR Josh Z 06-11-07, 03:59 PM Unfortunately, the last HD DVD in special packaging (the Forbidden Planet collector's box) sold less than 1,000 copies. I don't think studios are too excited about trying that again. maltin70 06-11-07, 04:52 PM Unfortunately, the last HD DVD in special packaging (the Forbidden Planet collector's box) sold less than 1,000 copies. I'll see if I can do a search for it. -JR Digital Man5 06-11-07, 06:07 PM 40 Year Old Virgin on HD DVD has some sort of special packaging, as well as a slip case. I don't know how to explain what it does, but it shows him on the cover and then when you pull a strip of paper his shirt turns into his hairy-ass chest. ;) MichaelHDDVD 06-11-07, 06:12 PM Is Forbidden Planet any good? bboisvert 06-11-07, 07:26 PM Is Forbidden Planet any good? Yes, as both a film and an HD DVD. I'm not a fan of the chunky-ass packaging on the tin set... but I have the regular version. If you like sci-fi, you shouldn't be disappointed. It's a bonefide classic. Topweasel 06-11-07, 07:54 PM Really! Less than 1,000? Damn! I just have a real collector's item without knowing it. It's a pity, as it was a very well made edition. Crazy, I am both glad and now saddened that I opened mine. Edit: Though it didn't cost them anything to do it. They charged nearly the same as the DVD version and the packaging was exactly the same cept the cardboard skirt that said HD-DVD and the actually HD-DVD inside. I remember reading that some people accidentally got the DVD instead with even the HD-DVD sleeve. homerx 06-11-07, 08:26 PM I'd call matrix ultimate SE. And matrix trilogy regular. You could call some of the DC SE as well. As other regions got normal versions. But I'd say it will be a few years before we see regular and SE discs. IE 30% markup on a 2nd disc you should get anyway JuiceRocket 06-12-07, 01:14 AM Unfortunately, the last HD DVD in special packaging (the Forbidden Planet collector's box) sold less than 1,000 copies. I can't find it anywhere online, so I'm assuming it's sold out. Thanks for the heads up on the 40 Year Old Virgin, I'll take a look at that! -JR LiquidX 06-12-07, 02:58 AM I think that Josh is saying that less than a thousand copies were sold, not made.
