Hi all.

I have a Lumagen HDP that has two video devices coming off it. One is my Sony Pearl projector on the DVI output. I also have a Toshiba 65H84 coming off the analog via component. Here is my issue:

I have an HTPC connected to the DVI in number 2 on the HDP. I want to use it on both the Tosh and the Pearl. When I set the video card on the PC to output at 1080p60 and then convert that to 1080i60 and send it out to the toshiba TV, there a lot of noise in the picture in the form of static-like lines all over the display. These go away as soon as I change the output on the PC to 1080i30.

The lumagen is set to PASS for the DVI input since it is the PC.

Here are my questions...

1. Does anyone have any idea why the conversion would not work fine? Used to when I used Windows XP
2. is there any disadvantage to using 1080i30? Looked great when I watched a movie on it last night. Am I missing anything by not having it on 1080p60?

Thanks in advance!

Shan

As far as I know the HDP can only take in up to 1080p30 and can not handle 1080p60. I do not know how it was working with XP.

With the latest software the Lumagen HDP can accept an input up to 1080p30. Many HD-DVD and Blu-ray players can be set to output 1080p24, which is the native rate of movies stored on high res disks. The HDP can accept 1080p24. You can set the output of the HDP to 1080p48 (or 1080p24) to view judder free movies on a 1080p display. Alternately, you can also set the output of the HDP to 1080p60 if that is the only rate that your 1080p display will accept.

The pass through mode on the HDP just turns off the scaling if the input and output resolutions match. Even in pass through mode, you still have access to all the video calibration features on the HDP.
