okay so this is the closest place i think to post this, sort of...if not please move the thread or i'll start a new one somewhere else. sigh... I have a video distribution question, not really video processing but i didnt know where else to go,

I bought this a/v component switcher, well actually my wife bought it for me thinking it would be a good solution for our new under construciton theater build.

here is the product link below it is an intec G5239

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10086959&catid=10939&logon=&langid=EN

this unit cost me about 290 with tax canadian. I am a little leary about using something so inexpensive to distribute content when I dont think there will be one component connecting to it that costs less than it.

basically we have a panny ae700u projector with one hdmi and one componenent input and our current amp/processor will only distribute component soruces. is this in anyones opinion an acceptable device for switching components or does anyone have any suggestion or can point me in the right direction as far as a suitible replacement goes.

I do not want to replace the front end of my audio system at this point i just need something to handle the multitude of game systems, etc that seem to be piling up at my place.

I just want something to be able to switch all of these sources without sufferening any quality loss.

thanks guys and I apolgize in advance

Brett

That switch should work just fine for all your needs ,
I am using a cheaper switch then that and it works great so go ahead and enjoy.

Did a little poking around, they're way cheaper from the states. For some reason, Home Depot's web site has them for $79.99! Same model and everything. The canadian site doesn't carry them tho. Amazon.ca has them too, if you search for "HDMI selector", starting at $155 through them, and $119 through an alternate seller, both coming from inside Canada so as to avoid duty charges.

As for the unit itself, it looks like a friend of mine will be picking it up soon. He's been trying to find a switcher with component and optical inputs, the HDMI is the icing on the cake. Here's hoping it does the trick. It's a new product, there's sure to be plenty of reviews in the coming weeks.

Futureshop has a price matching guarantee...easiest thing to do is take a print out of the lowest price you can find to them and will credit you with 110% of the price difference...

Brett,
Does that convert Component Video to HDMI?
