Among the new features touted in OS X Leopard server is this interesting tidbit:

"...Using Xgrid, Podcast Producer can leverage Macs on the network to encode the video, and the podcast can then be delivered over the Internet to a blog, iTunes, or even to multimedia enabled mobile phones over high speed wireless networks using QuickTime® Streaming Server..."

"...• Xgrid 2 featuring GridAnywhere for ad hoc distributed computing in environments without dedicated controllers, and Scoreboard for prioritizing job distribution to the fastest available CPU..."

"• QuickTime Streaming Server 6 with support for 3GPP Release 6 bit rate adaptation for smooth streaming when delivering content to mobile phones regardless of network congestion..."

"...Streaming Made Easy
Mac OS X Server v10.4 features a new and improved version of QTSS Publisher, Apple’s easy-use software for managing your server-side media. With an intuitive interface similar to iTunes, QTSS Publisher makes it simple to upload media to the server, prepare it for streaming and publish it to the web with just a few clicks. QTSS Publisher also allows you to create server-side playlists with your QuickTime Movies, MPEG-4, 3GPP or MP3 files turning your server into a virtual TV or Internet Radio station.

QTSS in Mac OS X Server v10.4 sports a brand-new interface making it even easier to manage and publish all of your streaming content. Additionally, QTSS Publisher also allows non-admin users to upload files to their home directory for streaming, ideal for organizations and institutions where large numbers of people need to publish media to the same server. All of these tasks can be automated when combing QTSS Publisher with AppleScript and Automator..."

Perhaps more HT-related technologies will be uncovered upon digging deeper into Leopard Server.
