View Full Version : Great, I just got off the phone with WB re: Matrix Reloaded
GalvatronType_R 06-11-07, 10:02 PM Sigh, this had to happen sometime...
As many here are having the same problem, I too have had problems with the Ultimate Matrix Collection playback on my 360 HD drive (specifically Matrix: Reloaded). So after speaking with WB customer service, they stated that there were "not aware of this problem" and suggested that I call back tomorrow. I don't know what difference calling today or tomorrow will make but I will do as instructed and post the results here.
In the meantime, I might as well try some suggestions that anyone out there on the Internets may have. Yes, I did try boiling the disk (boy, do I feel stupid, like a freshman who bought tickets to the school swimming pool) and I tried the eject, load, eject, load, etc., etc., trick ad nauseum. I'd really rather not get an exchange from where I bought it (buy.com) since I doubt that the new set will somehow miraculously play in my 360 drive.
Iggster 06-11-07, 10:13 PM where did you buy it? why not just exchange it with them?
i exchanged my set at best buy but because the third disc had cracks but the second one on the first try did give me an error running an hd a2 firmware 1.3
hd a2 1.3 new set no problems and updated to 1.6 and no problems still. so its most likely a bad batch just like some of the movies like smoking aces which i didnt have problems with and com which i did prior 1.6 and hitcher which i tried 4 copies and all locked up in the same spot!
rover2002 06-11-07, 10:17 PM Sounds like a 360 issue. Call MS Customer Support.
Goodluck
Just watched the whole series last night. It played fine on my 360.
thalazy 06-11-07, 10:41 PM I doubt it's just a 360 issue as people are having trouble with that disc on the standalones as well. You can try to exchange the disc but you may end up with the same problem as I have. Hopefully WB will exchange the disc so they don't anger customers more than they already are.
JaylisJayP 06-11-07, 10:43 PM It's not a 360 issue...i have the complete set and they all played perfectly on my add-on.

um ... OK
So you are saying that if a disc plays fine on your unit then every add-on is 100% problem free for that title?
ricwhite 06-11-07, 11:12 PM um ... OK
So you are saying that if a disc plays fine on your unit then every add-on is 100% problem free for that title?
Um . . . I think it's about 87.4% problem free.
Kannisto 06-11-07, 11:16 PM I had some disc loading problems with Matrix Reloaded (from the Ultimate collection) originally, it failed to load up in my HD-XF2 around 50 % of the time, giving me an error code. It seemed to work with a better success rate if I newly powered the player off/on before trying. At that time I had firmware 1.3 that was the latest one available in Japan. When it loaded OK, it was also playable throughout without any problems.
Since then firmware 1.6 was released in Japan also and I updated my player. and my Matrix Reloaded has not failed to load since the update, though I didn't test it more than a couple of times yet.
All 3 played fine in my Add-On. Just fyi.
techwisenyc 06-11-07, 11:29 PM I'm not 100% sure, but I think the problem disc have been mostly with Reloaded from the Ultimate Collection which is a dual-sided HD DVD disc. Like the problem with the Universal Combos they would not play and boiling helped some people and not others.
BuGsArEtAsTy 06-11-07, 11:36 PM Worked fine for me, and I have the Ultimate Collection and the 360.
What p!sses me of though is the audio delay issue with the first movie.
GalvatronType_R 06-11-07, 11:57 PM After fumbling around with my 360, I found that by simply turning on and turning off the console, Reloaded will load (roughly three times for every ten times I boot up the 360). There seems to be no discernible pattern or method to get the disk to load every time.
An improvement but still, a replacement by either buy.com or WB is still in order.
Exchange it for the Complete Collection and lose the combo extras?
genfuyung 06-12-07, 01:08 AM has the complete collection had any problems?
Traelin 06-12-07, 08:54 AM Um . . . I think it's about 87.4% problem free.
If that number is accurate, that's a HORRENDOUS reliability percentage...HORRENDOUS. It should be ~ 99.8-99.9%.
swanlee 06-12-07, 09:06 AM I had the same issue and basically I had to return the ultimate box set and get the complete box set. The complete set does not use combos so those will play fine on the 360 add-on.

While it will solve the problem, I'm not quite willing to exchange the Ultimate for the Complete. I'd like the have all the extras that the Ultimate Collection has and up to this point, I haven't had any problems playing the combos that I have (Tokyo Drift, Superman Returns, Letters from Iwo Jima, etc.).
dthigpen 06-12-07, 09:53 AM I had the same problem, I exchanged it at Best Buy and got a new set and it all worked perfectly. Just a bad batch of discs.
pmil7991 06-12-07, 12:15 PM Yeah, I had the same problem with Reloaded from the Ultimate set on my XA2 with 1.6. I tried a second copy from amazon and still had the same problem. So I switched to the complete set and all three played fine. I don't think it's my player because I also just played Children of Men and The Good Shepherd with no problems and those discs were from Netflix. I wish Universal and Warners would track down the place where the bad batches were made and stop using them.
I had the same problem. Returned two copies of the Ultimate edition back to amazon.
I am planning on waiting a while and then ordering again. Maybe a new batch of disks will come in.
I got the complete and they all played fine on my 360 HDDrive.
Traelin 06-12-07, 04:34 PM I got the complete and they all played fine on my 360 HDDrive.
So the complete set is single-sided? I may pick it up one of these days, but I refuse to purchase another copy of the ultimate set and play mix-and-match.
