View Full Version : Transformers 2007 Blu-Ray & HD DVD
Transformers is listed for a December 13th 2007 Release in Europe (Netherlands) I received word from Paramount Netherlands confirming the date. (Subject to change of course!)
Now let's wait and see when it's due in the US of A :)
More info on the Dutch release Here (http://www.rodisc.nl/gsp.dll?sid=103&pid=9&p_artikelid=87039&keysetid=30945514&p_productgroepid=2&p_artikelsoort=BLUR&p_genreid=)
AustinSTI 06-12-07, 02:22 PM It's pretty rare that a home video release date is announced before a movie even hits theaters...
donricouga 06-12-07, 02:55 PM Yeah that seems rather strange. I would expect this movie around that time anyway.
I'm definitely looking forward to this movie as transformers was my favorite show and toys as a child. I wonder if they will have combiners ?? You know, when 5 robots combine and become one big robot :)

Transformers was also my favorite show as a child, I would lower your expectations (and no, I'm not a Michael Bay basher). I don't think it's going to be anything like the original despite Peter Cullen's involvement.

I'm not really expecting it to be like the 80's show. But still, there has to be some remnants there. I would be funny because there was one that transformed into a cassette player. That wouldn't be very modern ! Maybe if he transformed into a blu-ray player :D
I suppose Peter Cullen is pretty much the only thing that'll make it feel like transformers from the 80's. The first generation transformers is what made "Transformers" popular.
AustinSTI 06-12-07, 03:55 PM Yeah definately have the constructicons in the sequal (can't believe I remember that).
Anyone remember Omega Supreme? :)

Oh yeah, he kicked some serious arse. Then he mysteriously disappeared in the later part of the series. He was a guardian robot.

Sarcoptic 06-12-07, 04:01 PM dinobots have also been talked about for the sequel
I think in the sequel they should battle the Go-Bots. :D

Nerd on: The constructicons consisted of six members not five.
Nerd off
I don't think it's going to be anything like the original...
I certainly hope not. Some of the G1 robot designs look horribly dated by today's standards. And don't even get me started on the whole "mass shifting" debacle.
Sisko197 06-12-07, 06:33 PM "The Constructicons form Devastator, the most powerful robot! We should rule!"
"Soundwave superior, Constructicons inferior."
"Who are you calling inferior? No one would follow an uncharismatic bore like you!"
"Heeeey... nobody calls Soundwave 'uncras-mastic!'"
"CONSTRUCTICONS UNITE!"
"NO WAAAY!"
More than the new movie, I'd love to have the old movie on BD. ;) Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron!

I think the new designs try too hard to look realistic personally, but that's not my real problem with what I've seen and heard. The problem is that the story seems to be a complete departure that will focus on the human characters.

A movie called Transformers is about the people that are being stepped on by the Transformers. Duh? Didn't you know?
When they do GI Joe, it'll be about the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of the Islamic Jihad terrorist squad inexplicably called Cobra and led by a Bin Laden-look-alike named originally Cobra Commander with foreign money backing supplied by a strange silver-headed conflict-diamond peddling South African drug lord named Destro and a Chinese Triad-representing matron named, The Baroness. Meanwhile, a special commando unit comprising the best of the best of the United States of the Kick Ass America called GI Joe will arrive to fight them.
In the middle, the stars will be Fred Savage as the father of two running for his life while arguing with his kids about the fact that Johnny didn't do his homework last night and Sue is too serious for her own good. He will throw peanut butter sandwiches at windows, then run screaming away from every battle. We'll get peeks into the battles before the camera focuses on Fred holding his son down and saying, "Johnny, you can't go..." "You," chokes out Johnny while crying, "have ot let me go, Dad!"
Then he will run crazed into the battle, yelling, "Yo Joe!"
GI JOE: A Real American Hero. Coming April Fools Day 2008.

jmubudman 06-12-07, 09:23 PM You geeks. :p
And DeathStalker is right, Devastator is made up of six robots, I just checked with mine, which happens to be sitting on one of my DVD shelves.
hassoon 06-12-07, 09:34 PM As much as I'm psyched for this movie:
No lossless audio = no sale.
Sorry Dreamworks/Paramount...either you change the way you treat the audio on your HD releases, or I'll just wait until I can just record it off of HD cable.
I DL'd one of the clips from this movie on the 360 and it about blew my house down with the LFE! This should be a fantastic HT experience.

Then you'll have a lousy picture to go with the lousy sound.

Though we're getting nothing more than DD tracks with our releases, I'm expecting this one to be different
alexg75 06-13-07, 04:55 AM My wife works at Paramount Pictures and she saw Transformers last week at one of the screening rooms and she loved it! She said that there was a lot of applause at the end.She did say it is a MICHAEL BAY MOVIE! Lot's of pretty people, some cheese and awesome action,go figure.I 'm pretty sure that we'll have the SD-DVD,HD-DVD & BR sometime before the end of the year here in the States and they should all be very kick-ass!!!!!!
Goatspeed 06-13-07, 07:51 AM It would appear that GM shelled out some serious dough for this movie. Based on the toys from the movie, Ironhide (the strongest, bravest Autobot) has changed from a red van to a black GMC heavy duty truck. Bumblebee is now a yellow comaro.

My understanding is that Volkswagen wouldn't grant a license for Bumblebee, so GM happily said "we'd be glad to allow you to use a Camaro in what will probably be the biggest summer blockbuster release of 2007"
VW's loss. Maybe they didn't want teenage girls to start thinking their little puffy cars with the built-in flower vase was too macho for them.

I would like to know what Paramount Germany is doing? Shooter was distrubuted by Universal here and Transformers now too. Now I will have to import both. I just don't get it.
Or is this just for the theatrical release? Does anyone know about that?
The day after my birthday! Perfect! :)
Tenkaipalm 06-13-07, 09:22 AM Taking yet another opportunity to give myself a shameless plug as I was an extra in this flick. Go see it, and ignore the obvious continuity errors in the Scorponok scene.

Theater version of Transformers is distributed by Universal in the Netherlands, however, the HD versions will be released by Paramount.

Supposedly, Top Gun is getting lossless audio, so cross your fingers.

Well that's good news. Maybe it will be the same way here.

Was it filmed in the Charlotte area or where you involved somewhere else?
(I work downtown and live in the area)
Maybe I'm missing something, but this movie just seems like it would be ridiculously stupid.
Yes, you're missing something.
My understanding is that Volkswagen wouldn't grant a license for Bumblebee, so GM happily said "we'd be glad to allow you to use a Camaro in what will probably be the biggest summer blockbuster release of 2007"If that's true, then VW is dumb! Maybe that's just the Transformer purist in me talkin'...
VW's loss. Maybe they didn't want teenage girls to start thinking their little puffy cars with the built-in flower vase was too macho for them.Bumblebee was hardly the most masculine Autobot around. No chance those teenaged girls would ever think their Beetles would be too macho. In fact, they'd probably walk away thinking their Beetles were too feminine. Maybe that's just the Bumblebee hater in me talkin' ...
Brandon B 06-13-07, 08:57 PM There was an interview online where Bay said that was not true. He did not want to keep Bumblebee as a bug to avoid association with Herbie the lovebug. Don't remember the link but google it if your curious.
BB
donricouga 06-13-07, 09:35 PM Bay should have made bumble bee a beetle
come on, look how freakin sweet he'd look

The fact that a woman said that is even more reassuring. I'm bringing another pair of underwear in case I soil myself.
Kevin12586 06-13-07, 11:23 PM For those interested, I linked to a spoiler free review of the movie in the DVD section of this forum. For whatever reason, Australia had the movie premiere earlier this week. The review can be found in the thread titled Transformer trailer.
4th of July can't come early enough for me this year. :D
ceniack 06-14-07, 01:52 AM actually, the movie is now set to be released on july 3rd, with some theatres doing an 8pm showing on july 2nd ala POTC:AWE
