IIRC, other than the casing, it is a rebadged JVC at a higher cost.

Why would it be illegal? Lots of products out there are rebadged or slightly modified products made by others. Many Runco products are eactly that. You are buying the support of the rebadger and their warranty yadda yadda.

Yup there are a number of companies that market PJ based on model from OEM's. IIRC some of the current crop.....

Meridian MF1 = JVC HD10K
CineVersum Blackwing II?? = JVC HD1/RS1
Dream Vision Dreambee = JVC HD/RS1
Digital Projection dVision 1080 = Projectionesign model III

Oh so true. And, it happens just as much for budget PJs as well. Check out Dukane, Studio Experience, Eiki, etc, etc.

Some times a rebadge can even be cheaper than the thing being rebadged. A rebadger buys in great quantities and can buy for substantially less than a direct dealer and particularly a dealer buying through distribution rather than direct.

Okay just got the new HT magazine,By chance they have the DreamBEE in their featured foldout. They claim 20,000:1 contrast ratio in the article.I thought the JVC was 15,000.BUDDA

IIRC JVC quote the numbers calibrated to D65. Most companies just quote the "max" number because it looks higher on a spec sheet. Hence even using the same base product it's possible to quote different numbers. :)

Yeah buddahead,
I noted this in a different thread, the crazy thing is that they seemingly misquoted the lumens at 10,000! Man, if that were only true...

As far as the contrast goes, I think cine4home measured the JVC around 19,800:1 with the projector in max telephoto and bulb on high...so its feasible to quote 20K.
