I'm curious as to what we might end up with as the ultimate for playing HD and SD DVDs once the dust settles.

If an HD DVD player is modified to output HD-SDI will it also need to be modded with an SDI output to play SD DVDs or can SD DVD be sent over HD-SDI? Or will we need two DVD players: 1) HD player with HD-SDI and 2) SD player with SDI out? Will our scalers need both SDI and HD-SDI inputs?

With HDMI 1.3 is it possible to strip out the video signal before sending it to a processor?

HD-SDI passes 480I so SD DVD's will play fine, same with scaler HD-SDI input can take in 480I and upscale
