I am in the process of installing my HD 1000U. I thought I would get one of those HDMI Wall Plates to run my 35' cable in the wall and then use a 6' cable from the wall plate to the DVD player. My question is this, do I lose signal quality by using the 6' cable instead of going directly with the cable that is in the wall and plug it directly into the DVD player. The wall cable is 22awg so it is pretty thick and heavy so I have concerns about it going directly to the dvd player. Please give me your thoughts and advice on this dilemma. Also thinking about doing the same thing with a component video wall plate for the dish receiver, your thoughts on this as well please. Thank you very much for your help.

I am not familiar with the construction of an HDMI cable.
That said, every time you add a connection, you increase the chance of getting a bad connection.
That said, HDMI is a digital signal. As long as the threshold voltages are still there for the receiver to reliably tell a 0 from a 1, and there is not noise or reflections from poor connections, you would be good to go.
I don't think that anyone could tell you with absolute certainty whether you will or will not have a problem, either way you go.
I do believe that there are plenty of people who use a 35 foot cable from the projector to a switchbox or a receiver, and then a short segment to the source.
It seems that you would have a very good chance of success. However there are no guarantees.
Clear as mud?

Well if he wanted to, he could pick up the cables and two couplers to mimic the wall plate, or the wall plates anyway, and do a dry run outside the wall. I bet it would work with good quality cables but with HDMI all sorts of weird things happen.

Thanks guys, would still like to hear from those who are actually using wall plates and port savers and those who are not and why you are or are not using them? In other can you give me the good and bads of both methods? Thanks again to everyone for trying to help.

a friend and I are using the hdmi portsavers from monoprice with 1080p projectors and no loss in image quality, the portsavers lock in tight and secure and protect the hdmi connectors inside the projectors, dvdplayers and av processors which is where we are using them, at this point I would not want to be without them but getting back to your question, no there is no degrading of image quality with port savers, I cant speak for wallplates.
