Hopefully it's simple.

I'm planning on buying a 42" LCD in the next couple of weeks and took a quick look at wall mounts. I want a mount with an articulating arm, but am finding some BIG price differences between mounts. The weight of the TV is going to max out at 65lbs, and will probably be less - for example, one I'm looking at is 45 lbs.

Given this, I see a mount that goes up to 40", but the weight is maxed out at 80lbs. Has anyone put a larger TV than the mount size says, but is well within the weight tolerance? Since they are "standard" mount sizes for these TVs, I'd think the weight is the most important aspect of the mount.

Count,

I'll bet the 40" is a limitation of how much room you will have in using the articulating arm function. If you don't need to turn the TV a complete 90 degrees a larger TV would probably work with that mount.

let me know how this goes. i'm in the same boat. Looking to buy a 40 inch LCD but the 37 inch articulating mounts are quite a bit cheaper than the 40 inch. The weight limit is well within the standard.

The only question I have is will the holes between the mount and the back of the TV match up correctly or will I need an adapter plate.

Keep us posted.

Depends on the LCD TV. When I bought my Samsung, I had to buy their adaptor plate for $50 bucks to match up with the mount.

A universal wall mount should be fine. Sanus and Omni are my favorites...
