View Full Version : Is there anyplace to import japan Blu-ray movies from?
i tried amazon.co.jp but it seems you need to read Japanese in order to find what you're looking for.
I want 'The Art of Disney', 'Ghost in the Shell: Innocence' on Blu-ray, as well as a few others.
Where can I import these titles online for a good price?

Try these sites. I have used Yes Asia for the Art Of Disney Blu Ray. Had the title in under a week (of its release). Plan to use Play Asia for Scary Movie 4 (HD DVD in the US).
How much did you like Art of Disney on Blu-ray? How long is it (60 minutes)?
luigionlsd 06-13-07, 11:44 AM Check out www.xploitedcinema.com - it's a great online store, and the shipments come out of Cleveland, OH. If they don't have a title you're interested in, contact them via e-mail and the rep will help you out. He's very good about support, and getting back to you quick.
ToEhrIsHuman 06-13-07, 11:52 AM cdjapan.co.jp (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/) is also a good site. I haven't purchased any BDs from them (yet), but have ordered CDs and they have decent prices and fast shipping. search on "blu-ray" for a listing of titles.

I don't think they are currently carrying Blu-ray. I couldn't locate any titles.
I did locate some titles that I might consider importing but there doesn't seem to be any definite information as to whether the imports will play on a U.S. PS3 / Blu-ray Player or if Sony could render them unplayable with a future firmware update. Before I plunk down some big bucks it would greatly appreciated if someone could clear up the coding confusion.

Yep, I've ordered many DVDs from them in the past with no problems. Not the cheapest, but not bad, and have never had a complaint about their service.

The key is to find out the disc's catalogue number (every release in Japan has one). You can obtain the number by browsing on an English site (like cdjapan), then just do a search on Amazon Japan using that catalogue number, and the release you are looking for should pop right up.
freebird2003 06-14-07, 10:01 PM Is there a jap version of kill bill vol.1 in blu ray (uncut version) where the house of blue leaves is in color. i have it in r2 dvd. i juz wonder it is in blu-ray yet.

ryoohki 06-14-07, 10:11 PM I like yesasia.com because they have free shipping to canada is it's Duty Free. they use the same system as Amazon.com, where the package is remailed in Toronto.. to skip duties..
DM2006RI 06-26-07, 09:15 PM HMV's Japanese site has lower prices than Amazon Japan. Not sure about the shipping.
hmv.co.jp
lgans316 06-26-07, 11:48 PM Japanese imports to Americans would be cheaper owing to a weakening YEN.
Last year 1 USD was 110 JPY
At present 1 USD is 123 JPY
rboster 06-26-07, 11:58 PM Here are existing threads on the same topic. I used japanese in advance search, title search only
