The work has begun. I would like to personally thank everybody for answering all my questions so far, you have been a great help. Progress is coming along. I am currently waiting for the electrician and then the drywallers. I don't think I'm going to drywall the equipment closet, but instead put up some sort of panels so I can get the wiring if I need to at a later date. I have been carpet shopping but cannot decided between a plush or a cut pile. Also we can only use sconces. The ceiling has a bunch of duct work in it, so that puts that ceiling cans out. I think 5 sconces should be fine. Dimensions: 13' 11" X 23' 1" and 8' ceilings
So far my equipment decisions have been ( some purchased/some on order)

Eeeekkk!! There's a wolf capable of walking on walls in your house!!
Seriously though, it looks like you've gotten a ton done. A little drywall and you'll almost be able to use the space.
Just wondering, why build the platforms before putting drywall?

Wolf- no. He my personal usher. He will escort out anybody who gets unruly! The riser is just in there temporarily. I wanted to get as much cut before they drywalled to help keep the dust down. The riser will be marked and numbers then torn down while they drywall. It should make installation a bit easier.
I also ran a 2 1/2 outdoor conduit in the ceiling which should make future pulls pretty easy. It is heavy duty stuff and well insulated. The screen is a 114" Carada Criterion. Speaker cable will come out of the wall right at the base where the carpet will meet the wall. Should be a pretty clean installation.

Ahhh. Looks like the wolf-usher has succumbed to the forces of gravity... :)
Running conduit was smart.
How are you going to handle the egress window?

I already have picked out a light blocking shade which will be followed by a heavy velvet curtain. It' should not be much of a problem at night though.
The dog has enough energy to climb the walls though.
Question though. I have 16" of space in the ceiling joists and was going to put an R38 (13")up there. But is that overkill. Will an R25 (8 1/2) suffice?

Do you need to build up a sub floor at all? Or will you just use roofing felt and carpet?
Looks good so far. Like the canine :)

No subfloor needed. I believe they are putting in some sort of moisture blocking pad to help keep the floor dry. I am putting 30lb felt under the floor joists on the risers.

Made a little progress today.
1) Ordered my Paradigm speaker package. It consisted of Monitor 11's V.5, CC390 and two sets of ADP390's. I also ordered a PW-2200. They should be here in a week or so.
2) I spoke to Outlaw Audio and ordered a 990 and a 7125 amp. The 990 is going out of MA and the amp from CA. About a week for that stuff.
3) and finally, i spoke to the electrician who will be there on the 5th of July. For now we are temporarily setting the system up in the living with or Sony XBR, so i won't be hurting any.
4) They are coming to mount and center the PJ on wednesday next week. I went with the Infocus IN78.
I post some pics when the gear arrives.

Why bother having him escort them out, he could just as easily eat them.
