Last weekend I did a good bit of RS1 viewing through different sources. I noticed that the excess saturation of red and green seemed more apparent when viewing DVDs or Blu-Ray as opposed to watching TV through DirectTV HD-20. So I decided to recheck colors using HCFR and GetGray for the Blu-Ray player......and using the Hd-Net Test Patterns for the DirecTV receiver/DVR. I used a EyeOne Display2 colorimeter. Unfortunately, because I don't have 75% color windows recorded on the DVR, I used color bar patterns for testing of each condition. I set the RS1 and Crystalio color controls to flat.

Notably, the color gamut was MUCH closer to REC.709 standards from DirectTV then from the Blu-ray player.

Has anyone else tested color directly from the source with DirectTV?

i'm going to recheck this a couple of times....and when I'm certain I'm comparing apples to apples, I'll post my color gamut diagrams.

Make sure to record xyY not just xy - otherwise your results are meaningless.

I'm right with you on that, Kras......Luminance is KEY. And now I'm using Greg's fab calculator to adjust Y for deviations in x,y.

Let's face it.....life is complicated.

What input on the RS-1 are you using to connect to the DirecTV HD-20?
