Are there any Blu-Ray discs that have the THX setup tests on them?
I haven't seen them on any of my movies & I just got the glasses from the THX store & would like to do it on a Blu-Ray disc instead of one of my DVD's (would that even make a diffrence ?).

Terminator 2 on BD has the THX stuff on it.

Not sure if there is a difference between the one on a DVD and the one on a BD.

Jur...

It has the same patterns... but it is in 1080p, and the colors (specially the blacks) are differents from the DVD-Video.

I think that the BD version is more acurate in color levels.

I also emailed THX & asked them the same question, here's is their reply.

THX currently has certified 2 Blu-Ray titles which include Optimizer, Terminator 2 and Brave Story.

THX had to look very carefully at the differences between Standard Definition video, and High Definition video. We had to make an entirely new Optimizer graphics set which included the broader color and video parameters for High Definition Video, and yet provide a similar setup routine for the user. The new Optimizer for Blu-Ray is full 1920 x 1080 and incorporates the full range of values for High Definition Video. Standard Definition Optimizer is expected to be used for Standard Definition Displays, and the High Definition Optimizer is expected to be used for High Definition Displays and projection. For Standard Definition that is NTSC/PAL BT.601 SMPTE 170M, and for High Definition that is NTSC/PAL BT.709 SMPTE 274M.

The Optimizer, as with all THX certified products, will continue to be refined as time and technologies move forward. It is always a good idea to check for the newest release for the latest and best performing setup functions.

So it looks like the Blu-Ray optimizer is different than the SD DVD one.

You're better off buying DVE.

just use the standard DVE version. I saw a big improvement after calibrating my display with it.

The THX Optimizer on T2 clips blacker-than-black and whiter-than-white info, making the brightness and contrast patterns useless.
