I wonder how the DVL1000G would fare...it is certainly more attractive.
This is a great price for a player with the Faroudja/Genesis chipset. - DR
Only one I could find was the DVL1000G at Circuit City which appears to be the same model slightly restyled-according to the spec sheet it has the same Genesis chip.
DVL-1000G does NOT have DCDi or FLI-2310. It used Zoran chipset. I know as I own one. Its PQ is not as sharp as the DVL-1000F which indeed has FLI-2310 and is a better player than the later model. Check Meijer Superstore as it had DVL-1000F 6 months ago.
Neither passed DTS via SPDIF so if DTS is important to you then don't bother. If you're OK with Dolby Digital then DVL-1000F is a good buy--much cheaper than other FLI-2310 HDMI upconverter and has equal or better video scores as you can see on Secret's testing.

This player has been discussed a couple of years here. It is made by Funai and it is my understanding that is a clone of the Denon DVD-1920 with the DVD-1920 adding DTS, SACD and DVD-A. Since Funai is set to build some inexpensive Blu-ray players, I sure hope they can carry this DVD-V performance over to those players and of course great Blu-ray performance as well and do it at a price that helps that floundering format take off.
