Well, this kind of snuck up on me... luckily I got this email today. Looks like the first four artists for S5 are Rob Thomas, Macy Gray, Dashboard Confessional, and Jewel (in two parts).

===================================

Soundstage returns for it’s 5th Season with Rob Thomas!

Soundstage, the ground-breaking primetime concert series,, kicks off its 5th season in on June 14th with matchbox twenty’s Rob Thomas. The season also includes multi-platinum artist Macy Gray (July 5, 2007), emo rock band Dashboard Confessional (July 12, 2007), and three-time Grammy nominee Jewel for a special two- part episode, (July 19 and July 26, 2007).

As one of the most popular voices to emerge in the late-‘90s, Rob Thomas, with his band Matchbox Twenty, dominated the charts and the radio. Marrying ‘70s-styled rock with pop hooks that made a lasting impression, Thomas served as principal songwriter for the group, and his songwriting chops earned him three Grammy nods in 2000 when he co-wrote the massive hit, “Smooth,” for Carlos Santana’s Supernatural.

Rob Thomas graces Soundstage with a performance shot at the venerable Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. The setting proves an idyllic backdrop for Thomas’ set, which touches upon Matchbox Twenty hits along with his solo work. The Matchbox Twenty classic, “3 a.m.” is anthemic alongside other favorites including “Bent.” “Smooth” lives up to its name and his solo work also shines like the poignant “This is How a Heart Breaks,” and the funky “Something to Be.”

That's odd, Jewel was on Soundstage earlier this year. Didn't realize she was popular enough to rate a two-part encore.

Peter Frampton's shows last year were outstanding, btw. Not that folks in the ATL would know, our stupid stations don't carry it (they don't do HD either, so I don't know where the pledge money's been going). Oh well, that's what ReplayTV's with Internet Sharing are for. ;)

Just a quick heads-up to Soundstage fans... the second part of Season 5 starts tomorrow night with yet another Tom Petty two-parter. The other announced artists are Lifehouse, Daughtry, and John Fogerty.

That Tom Petty concert looks like the one that was released on the "Runnin' Down A Dream" 3 DVD set.

Watched the last 20 minutes of Dan Fogelberg last night and set the DVR to record during the morning hours - I’ll catch it tonight. The oldies stations rarely play his music, and because of that, I’d forgotten a lot of his songs and this reminded me how much I liked them. His voice was pretty much shot for whatever reason, but from what little I did see, the instrumental part was very good. I did some research this morning on the internet and found he had been fighting prostate cancer and finally succumbed this past December. :( RIP, Dan.

I was glad to see PBS put this "rerun" on. I recorded it last night and hope to watch the whole show this weekend. Aliens, you are right about his voice, but still looks like a very good concert.
