I cant help it! Ever since I purchased the HD DVD and Blu ray players (xbox add-on and ps3 respectively) I guess i got spoiled. I will not purchase another DVD and most of my television viewing is HD channels. Its sad really. I know im missing out on alot of good movies but im addicted. I mean, i find myself buying HD movies just because the audio/video gets killer reviews (ie. Ghostrider) Does anyone else find themselves doing this? Its gotten so bad in our house that my 6 yo. comments how good the movies "graphics" are ha ha. My wife is even on the badwagon and would rather shell out 30 bucks for the latest HD movie rather than half that on a DVD's Tuesday debut. Damn I love HD

Amen to that! I'm still trying to get my wife on the bandwagon, but she continues to resist. I just can't understand why!

I hear ya. Does not take long at all though.....maybe 2 minutes and it's all over. My wife was watching "House" the other night...channel 11, I switched it to HD 411, OMG......took her 5 seconds to subcome to the glory.

Nice to hear that your wife and child appreciate HD as well. I'm fortunate to have a similar situation with my wife and kids. And as for TV, I can't remember the last time I watched something that wasn't in HD.

Well I'm the opposite - after having watched movies that I wouldn't have watched if my life depended on it, just for eye candy (Riddick, Swordfish), I decided that that was it.

I'd rather watch movies I like, even in lower resolution, rather than movies I hate in glorious HD.

Little Children, The Painted Veil, Notes on a Scandal, Severance, Pan's Labyrinth, The Science of Sleep, Borat. All those are films I enjoyed watching recently and that I wouldn't have watched if I was an HD snob.

So I guess I'm probably an HD philistine. ;)

I will watch SD, but the movie has to be really good for that to happen. I will watch horrible HD movies. After a while, the oohs and aahs will go away and you get used to the PQ.

Ever since HD-cable, the problem is with the SD PQ, because now, watching even good movies on SD, I see a lot more artifacts that are very disturbing and prevents me from enjoying the entire movie the way I used to (5 yrs ago?) The HDM have made it a lot worse, because the PQ on the best disks now often do exceed the best that HD-cable can offer.

Meaning DVDs are even more unwatchable.

I dumped all but a handful of my DVD collection, earlier this spring.

I've been an HD snob ever since we got an HDTV but will still watch a DVD when I have no other choice. Content is king and I refuse to watch garbage like Ghost Rider when there are literally thousands of other highly regarded movies that I haven't seen yet.

As far as purchasing goes, I vowed not to make the same mistake as I did with DVD. If I'm not going to watch it many times, it will be a rental not a purchase. So far so good... 250+ DVDs, only 12 optical HD titles owned.

even though I will see/buy a movie I want even if it is not available on HD. This is the exact reason I find it funny when someone says "Combos are good because chances are you have more then an HD player". Why would I want to see in SD in the kitchen (for example) when I can watch it in the HT on a big screen and in HD with lossless sound?

Like you I am an HD snob and I can’t understand when some say they have HD and then make a bigger deal about SD.

As my situation differs than yours, as I am sure many do. I have an HD HT in the living room and my son (32) has an HDTV in his bedroom and an SD DVD player. So If I buy a new Uni HD movie - he can watch it alone in his room as opposed to waiting for me or joining me in the LR.

Maybe it is because there are over 50,000 SD DVD titles available today and less than 600 in HD

why? is he not allowed to watch a movie in the LR that he wants to watch by himself :)

exactly, how large is your DVD library for the "just in case we want to watch in a different room " (this is not a personal question, just that you responded)

I watch plenty of HD but I watched a Laserdisc of First Family last night. Kontent is kaiser....and I track down kontent no matter where it leads.
