Got Comcast installed today. They gave me the 3412. Any differences in performance and features between these 2 DVR's? I've got the pdf manuals and am still not sure if I;m missing anything by getting the 3412.

Which one is more reliable and problem-free?
Should I take the time to request a swap?
TIA for any advice.

The 3412 is all digital... the analog channels in your area are evidently being simulcast. You're not missing anything.

Which version of the 6412 did you have? Phase III boxes were more reliable than Phase I boxes, and only marginally less reliable then the 3412.

The DCT6412 series IIIs has a HDMI output, the original DCT6412 had a DVI output.

Besides what has already been mentioned, the DCT3412s are about 1 inch less deep than the DCT6412s.
