This is the first BR disk I have not been able to watch because at the climax the audio starts dropping out and the picture starts to stutter really badly. I have tried every thing pause, stop, rewind, chapter skip but nothing would help the disk play beyond a point towards the end. I knew it was to good to be true, now Im really convinced that they rushed HIDEF DVD to the market way to fast. BLURAY and HD DVD both suck when you waste 30.00 on a new release and cant even finish the movie. I really wish I had never seen the improvement in PQ because then I would be happily watching SD DVDs movies instead of complaining here. Did any one else notice a ton of banding during most of the night time seens also? Whats strange is most of the HD DVDs I have had problems with and this BR disk all came from CC, just me or has any one else had bad luck with CC disks? Sorry forgot to mention I just got a SAMSUNG BDP1200 about 2 weeks ago.

Which player do you have?

Does your 1200 have the newest firmware installed?

Not just you...
This was the first BD disc I’ve ever had a playback problem with the main feature. Other’s haven’t been quite as lucky. But I’ve had nothing but trouble free movie playback since the formats inception, with the exception of one disc that I needed to install a firmware update to load first – an update that was released prior to the disc’s street date, I might add, so it was only about a 15 minute delay, as the update could be downloaded online.
Primeval did hang-up once during the film though. There was about a four second pause about forty minutes in, similar to a layer change on DVD, but this disc only has one layer and unlike DVD, BD supports seamless layer changes. This disc looks spotless, with no odd haze or blemishes in the finish. And since it was temporary, as opposed to lockup, I had no reason to take it out and try cleaning it. While that’s nothing compared to the problems I’ve had routinely playing back HD DVDs, I did want to point it out, just in case it wasn’t an isolated incident, player related, or more problematic on other hardware.

Taken from hometheater spot:
"Better than Anaconda, Primeval is a creature feature pure and simple, but one with a plot and an intriguing basis of truth."

Good lord he couldn't be more wrong. Anaconda shiiiiiiiiits on this movie. That's right it's that bad.

I read that review earlier. I'm going to watch my Netflix copy tonight on my PS3. I'll post back and tell you how it played.

Saw this in the theater. Top 10 worst movie ever.

This is one of those movies you skip no matter how good the audio/video is.

When it's around ten bucks I might take a bite outta that one....

But on another note...why does the PS3 never seem to have any problems? I have watched a number of Blu-ray discs and I honestly have never encountered skipping or freezing. In all fairness, my HD A1 played pretty damn flawlessly except for the very occasional skip or temporary freeze on a couple of titles.

AHHH...But how would it compare to Ghost Rider (which just came out)???

Thanks shamus 1099 for actually sticking to my question instead of giving me your opinion about how terrible you think this movie is, much more helpful for me. I also think I need to update to new fw, but have been hesitant because of how well it had been working with every thing incl. netflix rentals. Im always nervous about updating because it seems you create 2 new problems for every 1 problem you fix? And I have had bad luck burning ISO disks for my HD-XA2 this last update.

Thanks to this thread I know what a crap movie it is, and I'm happy I was not ripped off by buying it from Amazon. :)

Wait for it on HBO, I netflixed it and watched it last night. I also told my wife before I watched it that it would be like Anaconda, boy was I wrong. Why do these movies always have to cast the black funny cameraman such as Anaconda? Orlando Jones might want to see if he can get back to those 7up commercials. This was a stupid movie, but if your bored and off for the summer like I am, maybe you get it.

I am glad I did not buy this on Tues.

I had Deadwood S3 dvds in hand and saw Primevil on BD as I headed to the register. I picked it up and was going to buy it because it was a new BD, but something told me to put it down and rent it...phew.

Watched this last night on my PS3 without any issues. It's a very ordinary monster flick but not as bad as many make it out to be. If you're okay with a cheesy simple monster flick then you ought to at least rent this one. PQ and AQ was very nice.

I understand cheesy monster flicks ( freakin love them). Anaconda and Lake Placid are cheesy but fun. Primeval is neither.

I agree that Anaconda and Lake Placid are quite a bit better but Primeval is far from the worst monster flick I've seen.
