Ok, I was a bit nervous about posting here since I read a number of posts and most everyone has WAY more knowledge and experience with home theater equiment than I do but frustration got the best of me so here goes,...

I recently had my Sim HT-300 projector repaired by the folks at Sim USA in FL. The power supply blew and needed to be replaced. Upon receiving the unit back and re-installing it, the image quality is awful. What I see on the screen is flickering black lines intermittent with the image. These lines appear regardless of the source (Cable, HD Cable or DVD)

I recall having a discussion with the professional installers I hired on the initial installation regarding interlacing/de-interlacing due to compatibility between my projector and my video sources so I'm thinking this might be the problem. Only thing is, I can't get a hold of my installers to ask them if they recall the fix.

So I'm throwing it out to the members of this forum. Any ideas?

Here's my equipment breakdown:

Sim HT-300 connected to my source equipment via the Remote Interface 2 (RI2)
Denon AVR-5803 (Component Out to RI2)
Denon DVD-9000 (Denon Link to AVR5803)
Motorola DCT-6208 (Component Video Out to AVR5803)

Thanks in advance.

How was the image before returning the unit? If it was good and now is bad, I would return the unit to Sim2 and have them check it out. They are quite good at customer support.

The image was great prior to the repair work. The image was smooth, clean and sharp. It's most noticeable on the blue screen as video / DVD's are loading. The blue used to be uniformly smooth. Now, lines cut through the image at even intervals (that's why I thought it might be an interlacing / de-interlacing issue).

I've called SIM a couple of times but have not received a response yet. I was thinking that maybe someone here would have a quick fix. I'm not very comfortable shipping the unit up and down the east coast if it's something I could fix by changing a few settings. Besides, the last time I sent it to them, the repair bill was over $2,000.00.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep trying SIM.

Sounds like something came lose during shipping. Maybe a formatting board or something.
Sorry to hear this. You should be able to get right through to them. Ask for a technician for the HT300. I just called or something and got right through, give them another call.
Keep us posted!

Also have a look in the menu under "Picture" ensure cinema mode is in Auto then try it "off" and swap between the three video modes. I think its a hardware issue there, but give those a try as they can impact the deinterlacing.

Thanks everyone. I'll keep trying SIM and try swapping video modes and see if I can get it to work.
